Das Thema der Publikation ist hochaktuell: Es geht um die Wechselwirkung von Kunst, Wissenschaft und gesellschaftlichen Prozessen - das Grundprinzip der Arbeit der beiden herausragenden Künstler*innen Helen Harrison (1927-2022) und Newton Harrison (1932-2022), die als Begründer der Eco Art gelten. Untersucht wird die Entwicklung ihrer Konzepte, Prozesse und Techniken im Bereich der ökologischen Kunst und deren Einfluss auf Natur und Gesellschaft am Beispiel ihrer kalifornischen Arbeiten der letzten 50 Jahre, die als Labor für eine Fülle neuer künstlerischer Strategien dienten. Sie setzen die Harrisons später in anderen Teilen der Welt zur Lösung aktueller Umweltprobleme im lokalen und globalen Kontext ein. This volume aims to revitalize the exchange between sociological differentiation theory and the sociology of religion, which previously held center stage among the sociological classics. It brings together contributions from different disciplines, as well as various forms of regional and historical expertise, which are indispensable in forming a globally oriented sociological perspective today. Secularization is understood as a process of boundary demarcation, that is, as the enactment of semantic, practical, and institutional distinctions between religion and other spheres of activity and knowledge. These distinctions may emerge from within the religious field itself, or may be absorbed into the field having originally emerged elsewhere. They may even be directly imposed upon religion by external forces. The volume is therefore based on the premise that societal differentiation - and secularity as a specific expression of it - is a widespread structural feature that nonetheless takes on various forms, depending on its historical and cultural context. In order to make this diversity visible, the volume adopts a global comparative perspective, and examines historical distinctions and differentiations in the West and beyond. By examining different forms and modes of secularity in statu nascendi, the volume contributes to developing a better understanding of the diversity of secularities, even of those found in the present day, in terms of their historicity and their specific path dependencies. With this shift in perspective, this special volume initiates a global and historical turn in the theory of differentiation, as well as in the study of secularity.

Jahrhunderts, aus einer pluralistischen Perspektive, die Geschichte, Soziologie und Formengeschichte in Kunst und Architektur miteinander verbindet. This volume focuses on quantum variants of machine learning algorithms, such as quantum neural networks, quantum reinforcement learning, quantum principal component analysis, quantum support vectors, quantum Boltzmann machines, and many more.

We all know that sustainable goals are a challenge and, specifically, firms play a key role in achieving them since they define and manage activities that impact our lives. For established firms, sustainable approaches are difficult to implement. For new firms, they may be not. More and more often, in fact, the new firms are born as good businesses: good as in ethical, good as in eco-sustainable and good as in performance (e.g., as measured by the SDGs). Political thinking tends to outline reforms to existing political institutions. In contrast, Beyond Instrumentalised Politics argues for the need for systemic transformation. This book introduces the main aspects of modern applied electrochemistry. Starting with the basics of thermodynamic background, structure of interfaces and selected techniques used in analytical and material chemistry, the authors address the principles of electrochemistry in material science: corrosion, electrocatalysis, electrodeposition, energy storage and conversion. The application of nanostructured materials in these processes, as well as interfacing of electrochemistry with biology and medicine is discussed. Islamic microfinance is one of the most important sectors of Islamic social finance, which plays a very important role in curbing poverty and improving the standard of living, per capita income, employment level and achieving Maqasid al-Shariah, profitability and sustainability. This role of Islamic microfinance has become more crucial in the pandemic period. It has been clearly witnessed in developing countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh, how Islamic microfinance institutions helped deprived and affected communities during the pandemic. Another important development during the pandemic has been the introduction of blended models of Islamic microfinance such as waqf-based Islamic microfinance, a zakat-based model and the combination of Islamic commercial and social finance. Islamic microfinance institutions also aim to harness the power of digitalization and fintech, but they need to consider the necessary success factors to realize and gain the real benefits of technology. There are some major challenges related to regulations, management issues, lack of skilled human resources, a wide digital divide and low level of financial literacy in developing countries.
