This book contains the teaching resources for Series Two (Books 9-16) of the weebee Reading Scheme. The colour pages are photocopy-able and are printed single sided so that they can alternatively simply be taken out and, for example, laminated. The games and activities in this book are designed to support the learning of vocabulary and targeted phonic sounds used in weebee books 9-16. A list of the new vocabulary introduced with each book, along with the story text is provided for all books. Lists of the target phonic sounds and high frequency words are also included for each book. The phonic sounds largely follow the 'Letters and Sounds' phonic phases widely used in the UK. The high frequency words are from the 100 most common words in written English that comprise, on average, one half of all reading material. Contemporary theory from a multi-disciplinary perspective has been applied to the design and implementation of these teaching materials. Much of the research evidence used in the development of this reading scheme was undertaken in the last decade. Evidence from neuroscience, eye-tracking technology, computer simulation, psychology and psycholinguistics all contributed to the development of these resources that have themselves been successfully trialled in sixteen primary schools in England as part of research undertaken at the Institute for Effective Education at the University of York. The guiding principle is learning through play.

  • - weebee Book 9a

    119,-

This is the first book in the second series of the weebee reading scheme for beginner readers (Books 9a - 16a). These books are written as an alternative to the mainly phonically-decodable books (Books 9-16). They are intended for children who are more holistic learners, often boys, who either cannot access the blending and segmenting approach or prefer not to. As with Series One, each book introduces twenty new words, including words from the 100 'key words to literacy' that comprise one half of all reading material for children. Each of these next eight books is a stand-alone story in which the weebees meet and help other creatures in their valley. These include both fictional and real wildlife creatures. The wise Grog always knows the answer and comes to the rescue in each story. The creatures in Series Two return in Series Three when they have a chance to show their gratitude to the weebees for the help received. The games and activities found in the Complete Resources Book for Series Two support the learning of the vocabulary for all the books. The majority of the games (Grog's Journey, Pento, Spectro and Hex connex) are original and unique to this scheme as they were developed especially for the weebee Reading Scheme. As with Series One, there are full-page colour illustrations throughout.

  • - a Christmas story
    av R Price-Mohr
    206,-

Barney the cold cat is a Christmas special. It is winter and Barney is very cold. He meets some sheep and donkeys and watches as they follow a star. Then he sees some angels singing. Next he meets some shepherd boys and three kings who are all following a star. Barney decides to follow them and eventually finds a warm safe place to stay. The Barney books are for preschool children. There are full-colour illustrations throughout. These books create a sense of anticipation, and support the development of prediction, an essential skill for beginning readers. The Barney the cat books have been carefully designed to promote these prediction skills to support language and literacy. The books are large enough to use in a group setting and are designed so that children can join in with the predictable phrases. There is a song at the end of each book that supports phonemic awareness, in 'Barney the cold cat', the tune used is 'Twinkle, twinkle little star' and in the other books it is 'Old MacDonald had a farm'. The other books in the series are 'Barney the white cat' in which Barney explores in the house and gets up to mischief; 'Barney the brave cat' in which Barney explores the garden and shows just how brave he is; 'Barney the copy cat' in which Barney visits the zoo and has great fun imitating the other animals.

Rev Trevor Dearing a retired Church of England vicar, now in his eighty-seventh year, describes this book as a compendium of Christian living. It is a companion volume to the popular book 'Divine healing, Deliverance and the Kingdom of God'.Trevor was converted to Christianity and at the same time wonderfully healed by God from a traumatic mental illness at the age of 19. As a raw untaught Christian, he didn't even know the Bible properly although he did in fact spend a year studying the Bible and training to be an evangelist at the Methodist run "Cliff College" in Derbyshire. He went on to obtain a Bachelor of Divinity Degree and including New Testament Greek and some Old Testament Hebrew. He obtained an Arts Degree in Theology subsequently at Birmingham University. He went on to minister as a probationary Methodist minister in Brighouse, Yorkshire, as a curate in a Church of England parish of Todmorden and subsequently as a vicar in Barnsley, Halifax, St. Paul's Church Hainault and finally in St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Seattle in the USA. His ministry is remembered however, for his dynamic preaching as an evangelist and winning thousands for the Kingdom of God, a remarkable miracle ministry of healing and powerful ministry of deliverance. He has taught and ministered to Christians the UK, the US and world-wide. This book covers topics such as: discovering God in fear, through the Bible and through His people; walking with God as a companion, in our home life, at work, through suffering, through failure, through the storms of life; and serving God in worship, ministry and witnessing.
