KABIR: LIFE AND POEMS Translation & Introduction by Paul Smith Kabir (meaning 'great') was born near Varanasi (Banaras), India, in 1398 A.D. and died towards the end of the 15th Century. He was brought up by an elderly Muslim weaver-couple named Niru and Nirna, having been abandoned shortly after birth. Kabir, having obtained the prayer began to recite it and Ramanand on seeing the sincerity and cleverness of the young man accepted him as a disciple. Kabir strongly denounced the orthodox ways of religions: rituals and ceremonies. His quick wit and razor sharp tongue tore strips off the hypocritical theologians and priests. Kabir's short teaching poems which are called sakhis (meaning 'sayings' or 'witness') are like short, hard, sharp punches at the heart - direct, full of power, they take your breath away for a moment, you see stars, they hurt for quite some time afterwards, they are a real shock to the system, to the intellect, the dishonesty we nurture inside ourselves. 120 pages . I wrote this book because my son was being bullied. My son got to the point where he was tried and one day beat the child up. He told the teachers at the school and they did nothing. My son was dealing with a lot of emotions and tried to hurt himself and I got him some help. We as parents have to talk to our child or children because you never know wants going on with them. Some many children are being bullied and no one to turn to for help. We have to give our child or children time and listen to them. They need us to listen and be there for them. Parents talk to your child or children about being bullied. Let them know they don't have to run. The best way to stop the bullying is by teaching your child or children not to get upset by it. Just because people are being mean to you, it doesn't mean you have to get upset. I have read some many notes left behind of children committing suicide because of bullying. This really breaks my heart because if I wasn't listening to my son. He would had taken his life. Every one of these suicides breaks my heart because I know how easily they could have been prevented had the child had someone to talk to. We as parents has to teach our child or children how to handle being bullied.

Do you really think that if a civilization spent billions of dollars and a huge amount of resources to build a starship, that it would be a warship. I don't think so. Aggression between civilizations happens over limited resources. If a species is able to travel the stars, they have access to basically unlimited resources. For every one star system that has sentient life, there are thousands upon thousands of systems that have no sentient life but an abundant amount of resources. Why should a species go to war for an other's resources if resources were readily available without conflict in those thousand upon thousands of other systems. That is the premise of my stories.
