Em seguida, após propor um processo de "engenharia reversa" sobre as religiões reveladas, faz uma desconstrução da Bíblia e de seu deus tribal, inadequadamente promovido a Suprema Divindade pelos judeus helenizados de Alexandria. O autor mostra a falsa contradição entre monoteísmo e politeísmo, que o monoteísmo é anterior ao judaísmo e ao faraó Akhenaton, e que o monoteísmo institucionalizado se resume a um projeto político, o de centralizar o poder nas mãos de uma elite dominante. Diferentemente do que professa o senso comum, o conceito de Deus é diferente do conceito de "deuses" assim, a palavra "deuses" não é o plural de Deus, mas um termo pertencente a outra categoria de pensamento. O autor ainda compara sistematicamente os princípios bíblicos com os das antigas religiões orientais, alegando que os valores contidos nas religiões reveladas mais corrompem do que educam ou elevam seus seguidores. No decorrer do livro, a discussão vai se dirigindo a uma proposta da existência de uma consciência cósmica, com a desconstrução dos principais preconceitos que impedem sua aceitação por parte dos ateus e da ciência. A obra ainda inclui uma interessante discussão sobre evolucionismo e criacionismo, igualmente questionados pelo autor.
