  • - An Ecological Perspective on the Economy
    av Russell England
    195,-

Continuous economic growth is not sustainable because such growth depends on depletion of finite natural resources, ever-increasing debt, continuous population growth, and land use conversion-none of which is sustainable long term. Measuring economic health in gross terms (gross domestic product) is deceptive because it says nothing about the net benefits or costs of economic activity or the impact of economic growth on ecosystems. Yet growth is worshiped like a religion and politicians go to great lengths to lure industry (and people) from other states or countries without any attempt to determine optimum population density. Debt is unethically passed on to future generations. It is time for governments at all levels to begin planning for a sustainable future that works toward achieving a stable economy and a stable population that is within the long term carrying capacity of supporting ecosystems. The economy is a subset of the ecosystem-not the other way around. The concept of optimum as it applies to human populations needs to be recognized. More is not always better.

"The Man". Not just any man, but someone who has touched lives from the beginning of time. This is the story we are commanded to take to the world, and why. That is why I felt it was important to make it on a children's level. The sooner we can get them to know Him from whom our blessings flow, the sooner they can start to live and glorify God in this life and the next.

  • - The Fruits the Gifts and the Charisms of the Holy Spirit
    av Clairann Nicklin
    290,-

This book was written to help me understand what the "fruits and the gifts of the Holy Spirit" are and what they were supposed to mean to me, and how to use them in my life. The more that I discovered and shared with others, the more that I understood that I was to share this knowledge with all who have this same hunger. The "fruits of the Holy Spirit" given to us as a grace from God in our baptism are what molds us into the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26). The "fruits" are the personality of Jesus when He lived on earth. Jesus gives us the example-with His very life!It is important for us to be fruitful and multiply physically for life to carry on, but it is spiritual fruitfulness that will change the world! We each have an intricate role to fill-whether single, married, laity, religious, man, woman, child, adult-God created each of us for a specific purpose. And He gives us the tools to do our work! They are the gifts of the Holy Spirit that are listed in (Isaiah11:2-3).The most known charismatic gifts are listed in (1 Corinthians chapters 12-14), but this is not all there is. "To each one is given a manifestation of the spirit for the common good" (1 Corinthians 12:7). When we use a charism to help another person, our Isaiah "gifts" come forward within us, and as that happens the fruits of the Holy Spirit pour out of us as a grace from God, that is how we share the love of God with another. God doesn't make cookie cutter Christians! He tailor-makes each individual for a special ministry to help our Church grow! Can you believe it? God wants us to fulfill a portion of His plan designed to bring all people to eternity with Him!Writing this book has helped me understand the simplicity of how the fruits, gifts, and charisms work together to build up the kingdom of God.

An inspiring tale of life, love, and loyalty, Whisper recounts our fall off the mountain, the struggle to survive, and the sacrifices of those who search and rescue. A relaxing trail ride in the mountains with friends turns desperate suddenly when the trail edge crumbles and my horse, Whisper, tumbles off the side. The pitch is perilously steep and covered with snow, large rocks, and downed trees with broken branches. As our situation worsens and I must ask Whisper to do impossible things, his iron will and unshakable loyalty reveal the true strength of a bond that has been years in the making. As miracles unfold, I see it's no accident I have this horse … on this ride . . . in this dire situation.Everything happens for a reason, and the story of Whisper began long before this ordeal. Flashback chapters tell how I bought a scared and skinny old horse that nobody wanted because he "whispered" in my ear, the both funny and frustrating struggles to overcome his fears and establish trust, and the staggering reward of his loyalty at any cost.
