Rhymes for Doing Time provides a unique opportunity to use real-life situations that come up every day in prison or upon release--to help a prisoner develop a closer walk with God and to make their time easier, knowing that they may be just an inmate to the guards or even to the world, but they are or can become a child of the Most High God!The book has a page for every day and is formatted so that it describes a situation that happened to a prisoner, describing how he or she reacted to different situations that came up. Then it shows a situation that happened to a person or persons in the Bible, and then it draws a practical or a spiritual application between the two.It gives people a chance to realize that the Bible is living and practical, and it shows them that the same God back in Bible times hasn't changed one bit!The book also has inspirational poems that were written by the author to uplift his friends. They are perfect for prisoners to send to their families in cards and letters for everything from birthdays to holidays.

Robert Stark, in his oval office, planning campaign events for reelection, discusses his memoirs and interactions with twelve opaque individuals who suddenly disappear. Lisa Funk, recording the conversations, expresses concerns to the chief of staff. Hoping for redemption, Stark, remorseful, realizes his understanding of life events is not real, and delving into prior experiences and traumas in his life, he comes to see the world as it is, not as he imagined.Stark is a complex, driven, God-fearing individual, balancing a thirst for power and prestige with deeply held religious beliefs. The group working with Stark is unable to grasp how he knows information about the shadowy individuals until the existence of the twelve is offered from a vastly different orientation. Recounted from a point of view of the missing, the story has disconcerting characters and startling scenes and situations. The views could be considered controversial by those not open to consider ideas disparate from their own. Unlived Lives offers an unfamiliar paradigm and perspective often overlooked but very timely.

By reading through the entire Bible, anyone can begin to see the consistent influence the first three chapters of Genesis have on the rest of the Bible. These three chapters begin the great doctrines of creation, grace, the virgin birth, marriage, angels, human free will, humans created in the image of God, the existence of evil, and prophecies fulfilled in the life of Jesus. Instead of a scientific debate, Dr. Ted Beam offers solid scholarship with logical explanations to answer that all-important question, "So what?" He answers that question over and over again as he takes us deeper and deeper into the beauty and the mystery of the garden of Eden.

Cooking Up Memories One Meal at a Time brings you the heartwarming story and legendary recipes of Barbara Harris, founder of Celebrity Cafe and Bakery in Highland Park Village in Dallas, Texas. As a child of the Great Depression, Barbara's beginnings were humble, and she was often expected to cook for her three brothers as her single mother carried multiple jobs to provide for them. Later, as a young bride in America's postwar era, Barbara's family grew along with her love of cooking and baking. Picking up new techniques and recipes from family and friends, she gained confidence in cooking for larger groups, where her food was always a big hit.By day, Barbara worked as a bookkeeper, but she dreamed of opening a restaurant someday. That day came in 1979, when Barbara took the plunge and convinced a landlord to lease her a former restaurant space in San Antonio's ritzy Olmos Park neighborhood, and The Daisy Tea Room and Cookie House was born. With the help of her late husband, Bill, and plenty of family chipping in, Barbara's dream became reality. After growing the operation through new locations and brands for ten years in their hometown, Barbara and Bill were offered an opportunity to bring their concept to Dallas in Highland Park Village, one of the most prestigious retail locations in the country. It was there that Celebrity Cafe and Bakery became a part of the fabric of the neighborhood, expanded throughout Dallas-Fort Worth, and achieved institution status for its delectable made-from-scratch bakery offerings and classic American standards, all crafted daily from recipes that were handed down and perfected over four generations. In this exclusive collection, you will find all of the favorites that made Celebrity Cafe so popular, woven into the story of a strong Christian woman who had a dream and rose from humble roots to create a brand and legacy that positively impacted those that it touched.

As a pastor, I have seen that most believers have a strong desire to hear from the Lord, but many struggle in discerning His voice. I am certain that the most direct way that God communicates with us is through Scripture, yet many who seek to hear the Lord get discouraged with Bible reading. Ironically, this is the flaw in most devotional books. Readers hear the author's thoughts, which occasionally have little connection with the verse pasted at the top of the page. What is needed is a devotional guide that gives an example of how to listen for God's voice through a structured Bible reading plan. In 2018, I was counseling with a young man who was considering abandoning the Christian faith. I asked him if he was reading the Bible daily, and he stated that he was but that he did not get much from it. I gave him a specific challenge--continue reading the Bible daily, but text me a verse or two that spoke to him directly. He agreed, and together we began sharing daily verses with each other. Over time, we began to share not only the verses but what exactly the Lord said through those verses. Within two months, this young man renewed his commitment to Christ, and within six months, he became one of our young adult Bible teachers. Chairside Chats with God was birthed from these texts where I shared what God was saying to me through my daily Bible reading. These devotionals are built around the One Year Bible reading plan, but they could easily be altered to fit with any year-long Bible-reading schedule. This devotional is not intended as a substitute for reading Scripture. It is intended to show how God will speak by listening intently for His voice in His Written Word. I am confident that God will use this guide to help any believer grow in faith as he or she walks through the Bible.

Accounting for fatigue loadings has been a concern ever since the widespread introduction of metallic materials into load-bearing components in the nineteenth century. Calculations were developed based on the analysis capabilities of their time incorporating all the latest technologies of their era. At the time, that technology was pencil-and-paper calculations.Today's calculations are computer-based. The widespread use of computing methods has greatly enhanced the analyst abilities for simulating internal stress and strain fields. Unfortunately, current fatigue analyses often force-fit current stress field calculations into fatigue analysis methods meant for nineteenth century stress calculation methods. It's never a good idea to force methods optimized for pre-computer calculations to work with computers. This text presents a more integrated approach to computer-based fatigue analysis methods. Like what was originally done, the latest technologies are applied rather than force-fitting computer computational capabilities into nineteenth-century techniques.Holistic approaches incorporating all knowledge have long been established as the most successful approach to problem-solving. Incorporating all knowledge with the most modern capabilities is the preferred approach. Holistic methods strive to reduce subjective inputs and replace them with consistent objective ones. This text aims to transition disjointed inefficient analyses into a unified computer-based holistic technique by introducing a fatigue analysis method specifically developed for computer simulations.Ultimately, for any method or theory to be valuable, it must be put into practice and prove itself. That entails leadership decision-making. Engineering design development activities will lead to final decisions. Information in a holistic approach must include the reliability of the information. How consistent are the predictions? Are the two types of potential scatter, analytic, and physical properly addressed? Is analytic scatter minimized while maintaining creativity? Is physical scatter totally understood? Effective program management requires knowledge on both types of scatter and, most importantly, the ability to realize the difference.A novel computer-based unified approach to fatigue methods is presented which incorporates a holistic approach for more accurate and consistent analyses, including the management and leadership of fatigue analysis projects, minimization of analytic scatter, management of physical scatter, and unification of methods that minimize subjective inputs often needed to bridge inconsistent techniques.

The effects of the Great Depression, pressed between two World Wars, made me, D. J., as well as my family, reflect upon feelings toward men's conflicts and leadership of world nations. I detested wars and all things causing them. On a garden plot one hot summer morning in 1948, while weeding around tender sprouts, my father told me, his eleven-year-old son, about his friend, a victim of war who had joined the US Army in 1917. He wanted to fight the kaiser and help bring peace to the world. This friend died struggling for his life, slowly losing his ability to breathe due to the effects of gas poisoning in the trenches of France. I remembered that story. On December 7, 1942, the Empire of Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, destroying aircraft, ships, and many navy men. I was six years old and failed to understand the impact of this deed, but I saw the effects it left on my parents and siblings and wanted to know why. My two older brothers explained that the United States was at war, that the Japanese had declared war on us. This gave me great alarm and left me in fear. When planes flew overhead, I crawled under my bed and covered my head. I believed the Japanese had returned to kill all of us. War affects people, especially young children that way.As the war progressed, my family established a ritual at the morning breakfast table. We checked the weekly list of soldiers and sailors in the newspaper that had been killed or missing in action. We cringed and cried when a familiar name was listed with the initials of KIA or MIA. We found a name we all knew, a cousin, my aunt's only son.The Second World War came with angry images and impressions that followed me through my life and still flash forth at random times. Movietone News screened a clip near the end of the war in 1945 that I can't forget. It was of a toddler covered in dirt and ashes, sitting in the middle of a road scattered with debris, a child, all alone, with his fist in his mouth, crying for his mother who lay dead beside him. This scene is forever imprinted in my mind.Memories of Home and Distant Wars contains recollections of stories from my memory based on true events from the late 1930s into the 1960s, collected from an era of hardships and sacrifice. These memories were shared with family and friends who encouraged me to have them published.

Distressed over his own poor understanding of John's apocalyptic vision, the author took a deep dive into Revelation. What emerged from his years of study was an amazing time-linear story of the unveiling of Jesus Christ, from before this creation to the beginning of the next. The Scroll is an imaginative and colorful telling of the events being described by Revelation chapters 4-12 using a short story-like approach. The author invites you to view this complex vision with new eyes, and once you see the simple story being told, you won't be able to unsee it!
