Spiritual Motivation Vol. 2 is a new collection of essays, with the same temper as Vol. 1: New thinking for business and management, published in 2007, but with new authors and new themes. It addresses the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, which, alongside climate change and, now, the war in Ukraine, have greatly disrupted the course of humanity's development. The diverse essays in this book provide insight and inspiration both to the individual and to the corporate world. The work is divided into three parts. The first, 'Understanding', addresses basic issues such as the vital need for a biological perspective of the world, quantifying quality of life, the cost of climate change, and the growing dominance of financial institutions. Part II addresses contemporary management issues and is a guide to greatly improving current practices. Part III contains expositions of the world's great religions by leading practitioners.CONTENTS PART I: Stephen Boyden, Phylogenetic maladjustment; Philip Thomas, The J-value; Graham Holt, The cost of going 'green'; Paul Beckett. Tax havens; Jeremy Ramsden, (In)equality. PART II: John Seddon, Beyond command and control; John Timpson, Upside down management; Andrea Finnis, How to be a good communicator; Peter Bazalgette, Empathy; Peter Wedderburn-Ogilvy, Problem solving. PART III: Gary Gach, Buddhism; Lorne Denny, Christianity; Taj Hargey, Islam; Jonathan Romain, Judaism; Madhuri Sharon, Hinduism.
