Join in reading and laughing about the attitudes of Tiger, Scrappy, Sammy, Champ, and Bow Wow dogs who thought they were a soccer player, bodyguard, slippery eel, head hunter, and army general. Their antics will live on in our hearts.
Dear Reader,This book is my life story. From the depths of depression, God's Spirit filled me with hope and inspiration to continue this journey called life.Depression is the name that accompanied overwhelming feelings of helplessness and hopelessness I had. I believe that my breakdown was God's way of stopping the insanity in my life and getting me the help I so desperately needed. I didn't realize how mentally sick I had become. In therapy, I went deep to the center of my soul. Through much pain and many tears and many years of hard work, I started cleaning out the ugliness, the pain, and the hatred that I had buried. My psychiatrist, caseworkers, group session members, my children, my friend Mary, and my extended family helped me work my way back to a healthy mental attitude and outlook on life. I feel I am a better listener, more patient, compassionate, and forgiving person. I have truly been blessed.I know that there are many who can relate to my story and life experiences. It is my prayer that my story through my journaling, thoughts and prayers, and poems will be of help to you.God, in all His glory, was with me always!True Kinsley
The inspiration of God to teach daily or preach weekly is a blessing and a burden. It is a blessing to have the week-after-week encouragement to preach your sermons with your original topics. However, for some, it is a burden because there is a Sunday morning sermon expected, and the inspiration to provide a message to preach God's Word must be roused, researched, and gathered into a logical presentation.Tag. You're it. Sometimes, it's just not there. You know Sunday is coming, and sometimes the stimulus or impetus is not. I empathize. These are the reasons I authored this book. The truth is, some preachers are good enough to not only preach on Sunday morning, but also follow that sermon with another on Sunday night and Wednesday night or another day of the week. They are always, always ready in season or out of season to preach the Gospel. But there are times in the career of every pastor when they struggle when the inspiration to create sermons fades after months and years of multiple weekly presentations. Especially during periods of life when events and tribulations require time and dedication to other pressing matters.Others might say, "It's their job. That is what they do." They get paid to read and study and make a forty-minute sermon each time they stand behind the pulpit. Not true. You and I know that. Most pastors/preachers do so much more than preach. They have families, a flock to attend to, and administrative duties that take much of their week. Some of you--bless your heart--are bi-vocational and work a forty-hour week as well. Not an easy job even for the called who are in love to do all they can in Jesus's name and for His glory. This book of Preacher Spurs is for them.
The power of God's love is God's agape love for you. It is a Greco-Christian term referring to love--the highest form of love, charity, and the love of God for man and man for God. This love embraces a universal, unconditional love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstances. It goes beyond just the emotions to the extent of seeking the best for others. The power of God's love wants to quiet the internal conflict that roars loudly in your spirit. The power of God's love wants to whisper away the voices in your head that says, You're not enough. You're not smart enough. You won't amount to anything. You're never going to be anybody. You are too fat. You are too skinny. You're not pretty enough. You're ugly. You just don't fit in. Who do you think you are?The power of God's love wants to heal the little child in you who yearns to be heard. The power of God's love wants and can quiet the voices that still speak loudly in your head of those that cause you harm, shame, guilt, doubt, rejection, abandonment, fear, and pain. The power of God's love wants to give you strength when you feel you have none, confidence when you feel unsure. The power of God's love wants to dry away the overdue tears, the tears within, to bring you out of stuck places if you just be still, get quiet, and trust and believe.
I knew if I came out from under that bed that all chaos would happen. I stayed under the bed for a very long time. The police and my father finally convinced me it was safe to come out from under the bed. I told the horrific story to my father. My life from that moment on changed forever. My family was forced to move. My parents divorced. My mother became a single mother of six children. In the 1960s, a divorced woman was labeled with a capital S (Scarlet). So many experiences in such a short time of life. Many are unbelievable, but each one of it is true.
