When Jennifer (Jen) Hoyt leaves for college, the word ecstatic feels like an understatement for how she feels. She can finally move away from the dysfunctional family who neglected and abused her to make a better life on her own. After being an overachieving outcast in school, Jen is confident of academic success, but what she wants most is to be a part of a loving family, like her best friend, Beth, has.During her first year of college, Kyle, a friend of a friend, captures her heart, but her attempts to "make him love her back" have dire consequences. If he doesn't, how will Jen keep her baby safe from those who hurt her? Jen doesn't know the Lord yet, but He's already making a way for her.

To describe how I came up with the name of this book, Fact or Fiction, Present or Future, truly lies with how one of my dreams first came to me on the night of May 21, 2019, how this dream put me in an area that I've never been to before with people I've never met. Could this happen to me in the future? I don't know.Then I included the five dreams that followed that had some time-lapse that led up to my dream on January 1, 2021. While President Trump was in office, he did meet with religious people with Vice President Pence, just not at this particular place or with the same religious people at the same time. Could it happen in the future? I don't know.The fact of the COVID-19 affecting and killing thousands of people around the world and here in the United States is true, but with losing the president and vice president within three days of each other to the pandemic is not known at this time. (Note: I didn't identify who the president and vice president were as this was not revealed in my dream.)The fact that President Trump fought tooth and nail to stay in office in 2020, but he did leave with bags packed when he lost the election to Joe Biden, I found this dream to be more entertaining and humorous in nature, including saving the teddy bear. Now could this still happen in the future? I don't know.Not sure how many or if any naval ships President Trump boarded while he was in office, but most recently he took a tour of an aircraft carrier. Will he take over one as commander in chief? Time will tell.I tried to write this as events that will or did occur in real-life circumstances, added names to some of the caricatures, and tried to depict each dream almost in a story format but not to take away from these original dreams how they did happen in my subconscious.I've had other dreams in between and even after this period of time that I have not yet determined to include in this saga.

This book is the third book that I have written. The first two were books of poetry, but this one is a sampling of articles that I have written for newspapers or magazines from the spring of 2010 (when I started to electronically save and collect them) until the summer of 2021.The book Conversations with God is a compilation of years of life. It reflects many thoughts about God, about nature, and about the wisdom I have gained in so many years of studying, ministering, and loving people. I enjoy using humor though sometimes it may be a little subtle. The topics are many and often. One article is vastly different from the previous one or the following one. I do usually stick to one theme in each individual article. Each article is meant to picture an almighty, loving God in the light of nature and life experiences.My first book of poetry, Reflections, was a short, simple book; and my second book of poetry, Beside the Still Waters, was a longer, more detailed collection of poems and scriptures. This book is a little longer and more complex. My prayer and hope for you is that you enjoy my writing and let it minister to you and speak deeply into your life.

Why Me? The first thought we have when we encounter a tragedy in our life. Or maybe, it isn't the worst thing that could happen to us, but it is a bad thing which God allowed. Bad things do happen to good people. This book chronicles events in Barbara's life. Her premise is that no one can truly grasp or get their head completely around someone else's trauma. So this is not a book about why God allows bad things to happen to good people. It is about allowing God to walk through the mourning with us. It is about truly Him making all things work out for good for those who love him. It is about self-reflection and allowing God to use those very hardest things in life to change us, for good, transforming us more and more into his image. All of us who are his children suffer. This book is about learning to persevere through adversity and praising Him for his sovereignty.
