In this second book of the Ransom: Shadow of an Empire trilogy, entitled Trial by Time, Samantha, captured by Medrhos, is plunged a thousand years into the past, faced with the prospect of becoming a Marauder herself: with or without her free will. Meanwhile, Marc must play his part in Talitha's fate. As they face their worst nightmares, a shadow creeps across the horizon: one which even Medrhos can't hold back.
This book is dedicated to and is about the merciful and at times semi-miraculous consolations and interventions of the Holy Spirit, without which neither this book nor perhaps even the author would still be traversing the crooked path that God weaves through our broken but redeemed human lives. In short, it is a memoir of how the Holy Spirit pursues and protects us in our spiritual journey of life. It is a journey most easily viewed in the rear-view mirror.
"What if you knew what God's will was for your life right now? What if you had the ability to destroy vice, decrease sin, and cause good works and virtue to flourish? What if you could have the light of God and the plentitude of his graces every single day of your life, leading to true peace in your soul? That's exactly what you'll get at through this book, which will prepare you for total consecration to Jesus through Mary. It is the most practical, deep, and accessible way toward becoming a closer disciple of Christ and attaining, as St. Paul wrote to the Colossians, "full knowledge of God's will through perfect wisdom and spiritual insight" (1:9). To make it so, Burdick combines the timeless Marian prayer of the Rosary and intertwined its mysteries with St. Louis De Montfort's True Devotion, St. Pope John Paul II's Apostolic Letter, Rosarium Virginis Mariae, and the four Marian Dogmas of her Immaculate Conception, Divine Motherhood, Perpetual Virginity, and her Assumption into Heaven"--
"A random invitation to hear a person speak about Medju-gorje leads Barbara on a journey that will change her life. Within months of her mother hearing that witness, she and her family are bound for what was then Yugoslavia on the brink of a civil war. Barbara, her sick and dying brother, his friend, and her faith filled mom travel to the place where the Blessed Mother is appearing and miracles are happening. It is the last hope. From the first day to the last, they witness unexplained miracles and her mind awakens as their spirits soar. One sees halos. They all see the sun yo-yo from the sky. Her dying brother climbs a mountain despite it seeming impossible. They cross a threshold and are forever changed. Their witness astounds and pulls them into a web of love which fuels Barbara's faith for the subsequent chapters of her life. It leads her back to the place of transformation and miracles. This book is an affirmation of the force greater than us all"--

"This book is about the vision Jesus sets before his hearers of a world ruled by justice and love. The beatitudes present a vision of a world where those who have not reap the benefits of God's benevolent gaze and provide hope to all who listen to and follow the call of the kingdom in their hearts. Without that hope, there would be no place in the human heart for the Spirit of God to dwell, and the kingdom of God would not be able to reach its completion. With that hope, all things are possible-even the unspoken miracle that turns a hateful heart into a tranquil reservoir of divine peace"--
"Christ entered our world, gave himself completely to us to the point of dying for us, to become nourishment for us and a source of hope. In this book, Fr. Dennis Billy, C.Ss.R., demonstrates how his single sentence embraces every element of what I call the Christ's Gospel narrative, namely the central mysteries of the Catholic faith: Christ's Incarnation, his Passion and Death, his sacrificial meal known as the Eucharist, and his Resurrection and Ascension into heaven"--
This book concerns a new and required depth of preaching the word of God within the Mass. This calls for a new and deeper appreciation of communication skills. --Provided by pubisher.
"Objective: This study examines potential risk factors for long-term abortion-related distress in women. Method: One hundred and two women receiving outpatient psychiatric services were assigned to one of three groups on the basis of their reported abortion history. Women with a positive history of abortion were assigned to a distressed or non-distressed group depending on whether abortion-related distress was a primary presenting problem. Women with no history of abortion who sought outpatient services served as controls. Results: Comparisons across groups revealed that the abortion-distressed group had symptoms consistent with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, including intrusive thoughts of the abortion experience and active avoidance of events associated with their abortions. Two women who underwent an abortion following rape were both in the abortion-distressed group. Conclusions: Implications for identifying women at risk for long-term distress are discussed and suggestions for clinical interventions are made"--
