Set in Australia, Mia's Magic Wand is a fugitive journey from Sydney Harbour to the Kimberley. A mother, a father and a monk all want to fix what's f****d with the world. Each loves to gamble: the mother with politicians, the father with weapons, and the monk with God. A tragedy forces the gamblers to push all their chips onto the table. The trouble starts when Tate Wolsey-a billionaire philanthropist-dopes the mother, Mia, and rapes her. In an act of bitter revenge, the philanthropist's wife steals his archive of blackmailing videos and gives it to Mia. All hell breaks loose and Mia ends up with the only surviving copy of the archive, which Tate calls his 'Magic Wand'. A federal election looms, news of the theft of the Wand leaks out and prominent politicians begin to worry. One of them, the Federal Police Minister, makes a deal with a jailed murderer, Dog, who holds a grudge against Mia. In quick succession, Dog is released from jail, Tate's wife is killed, Mia's daughter is kidnapped and Tate is shot through the head. Late one night, Mia arranges to hand over the Wand in exchange for her daughter but the deal goes sideways and a gun battle erupts. In the chaos, Mia and her commando husband rescue their daughter and flee to the mountains-still in possession of the Wand. Trekking to a highway, they hitch a ride with a truckie and travel to the Kimberley where a bloody struggle plays out. Dog is still at large and makes his last attempt on Mia while she's attending a funeral.

Dominant, direct leaders who don't get emotional get the job done, right? Take charge and cut to the chase, right? Other people who allow their emotions to get in the way of business need to just "suck it up." Right? Wrong! Suck It Up, Buttercup. You might be part of the problem.
Based on a true story and inspired by a beloved beekeeper uniquely named Unkle Ray, this picture book blossoms with its educational twist on the importance of our busy little pollinators - honey bees! Throughout this charming story, young artists are colorfully engaged with honey bee knowledge. Why are beehives so important? What is the difference between a nest and a beehive? These are just a few of the interesting questions that are discussed throughout the story and detailed with beautiful water-colored artwork. It's a delightful tale and visually nurtures honey bee awareness for all readers (young and old). This attractive book also features additional perks for its readers like honey bee fun facts, 10 ways to help protect honey bees and includes a thirty-word glossary. After many years of reading children's books to her daughter and secretly writing some of her own, Donalyn Kent has finally succumbed to her passion. Painting for Honey Bees is Donalyn's debut picture book. She loves to write entertaining stories for children that are based on true events and circumstances. Her tales not only educate young minds, but are thought provoking for adults as well. Donalyn celebrates the importance of awareness, enthusiasm and the value of learning with each story written. Her goal for every book read is that all readers laugh, learn and love.
When not consistently losing a staring contest with the existential void and searching for loopholes in duality, Michael Raftos is compelled to draw arresting images. Fascinated with the beauty and horror of the world, he spends a lot of time thinking about philosophy, psychology, history, spirituality and force feeding these topics into his. He lovingly crafts intricate and surreal images using basic media: a pencil and an eraser on illustration board. This presents an interesting challenge: to create an image that is striking and interesting without the benefits of special effects in an age of advanced technology and algorithms. It also gives us something interesting to look at in case someone accidentally turns off the internet.
