This thesis creates recommendations for methods to increase classroom engagement, specifically in classrooms consisting of art/design students within a dual enrollment setting. The recommendations follow the investigation of literature and the examination of studies related to engagement features of young college students who are studying graphic design. This thesis examines factors that potentially reduce classroom connectivity, and looks deeper into how those factors play a role in the engagement levels of students. It begins with a focus on overall classroom engagement followed by a closer look at engagement of early college students in the graphic design classroom. After an examination of the literature, I reveal ways instructors can improve their instruction to connect as deeply as possible with as many students as possible.

On an oversized lot in the Belmont Heights neighborhood of Long Beach, California, sits a courtyard tucked between two rows of Spanish Revival Style apartments. Located at 3615-3623 East Colorado Street, there are two single-level dwellings in the front and two duplexes in the back; each duplex has one upstairs and one downstairs unit. All of the apartments were originally cozy one-bedrooms with the same efficient floor plans (except for the upstairs units, which have staircases that take you from the front door to the upstairs landing). The built-ins, hardwood floors, coved ceilings, moldings, interior doors, and some of the original windows are still intact. Several apartments feature original kitchens and bathrooms, and there is one surviving intricate glassed-in front door. Brown's Court Apartments (BCA) is one of Long Beach's few remaining bungalow courts and the only existing Spanish Bungalow Court in Belmont Heights. The architectural theme, characterized by small, well-designed houses with outdoor communal space, was at its height when BCA was built in 1923. The property has been in use for at least one-hundred years, making it one of the oldest in the area.

More than 300,000 books sold! Genesis, the seven days of Creation ... Where does the text that makes up the first part of the Bible come from? Is its text a mere introductory poem ... or is it a narrative? What's behind its words? Alberto Canen has found an alternative way to answer these and other questions in the Genesis. He has found a route no one had been to before, and invites the reader to discover it and make their findings with him. The author has found that hidden in the bottom of the plot there is someone. Someone who observes; someone who tells. Someone who tells what he observes. And a place, a location from which he observes. The location of the observer. The key to an exciting puzzle. The Genesis has been a mystery for thousands of years. No one had been able to understand what the text spoke about, whether it was just an introductory poem to the Holy Scriptures, or it actually contained information about the Creation. The text of Genesis divided the waters of creationists and scientistics long until today. With this book I hope to dilute this separation between scientistics and creationists since I have discovered the key that unifies both worlds. I think the key to the mystery of Genesis is to understand that it is narrated by someone. A narrator of Genesis. Someone who observes the vision God gives him and from there he tells what he observes and he observes it from his human and earthly location. This earthly and accurate location is the key to understanding Genesis.

Tailored Fabric Formwork provides a new language and paradigm for the understanding and manipulation of innovative formwork methods. It offers an innovative response to building element creation combining knowledge from architecture, engineering, and the fashion and textile industries. The research applies tailoring and fabric manipulation techniques to sculpt architectural column prototypes from concrete cast in a flexible fabric formwork. These deliver form and material efficiency for creating refined non-orthogonal forms for concrete architectural elements. The work adds a new dimension to the discourse on flexible fabric formworks.
I am a spider who is higher in rank than other spiders. With all humility, if all the spiders in this world were put in one hand and I was put in the other I would outweigh them in superiority. I am not one to make false claims and show-off, I am simply stating facts. I do not think that I need to introduce myself to the reader, for I am sure you understand that I am the spider of the cave that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) hid in. I am the one, who was responsible for the Prophet's deliverance. I am the one, who Allah (God) sent to protect him.My web is very flimsy and light and the slightest breeze can blow it away. However, despite the weakness of my web, I managed to ward off the iron swords of the atheists that went out in pursuit of the Prophet, and moreover, I was able to defeat them! The outcome of the conflict between the spiders' weak silk and the iron of the swords was the defeat of iron. My house is considered a parable of weakness, "Verily, the frailest (weakest) of houses is the spider's house." I sat in my house protecting the noble house of Islam and guarding the Prophet of Allah, Muhammad ibn ' Abdullah (peace be upon him). That was not all that happened to me. Something even more wonderful happened; I saw the Prophet. I know that after the Prophet's death, millions will visit his grave to cry and pray.
