This is a story of an amazing life, the life of an extraordinary healer. In What Wants to be Known, Paul recounts the thrilling, often perilous adventures he embarks upon as he set out to increase his esoteric powers and fulfill the demands of two very different traditional healers. Born in the 1940s, Paul becomes heir to his Orthodox Jewish grandmother Gussie's Central European esoteric warrior lineage-hours after his birth. Gussie teaches him not only to heal those in need, but to do battle in the spirit world and to protect himself on the violent streets of the 1940s Bronx. Years later he ends up in a tiny village in the Andes, where he is initiated into the Q'eros lineage by Don Manuel Quispe, a high priest who directly communicates with the natural world. As Don Manuel's last and principle student, Paul must continue the unfinished work of the lineage-whether he wants to or not. Don Manuel tasks him with healing the damage humans have caused in the highest realms of consciousness and in the natural world. That commitment takes him on a series of adventures-the likes of which we've not seen outside the fictional escapades of Carlos Castaneda. What Wants to be Known is also an invitation for readers to experience the sacred themselves-without the perils. Paul offers a collection of traditional wisdom teachings, gleaned from the silent transmissions he received from Gussie and Don Manuel. The practices invite us to move outside of ourselves and to extend ourselves reverently to a visible manifestation of the sacred: the natural world. Through listening to what wants to be known, we enter into a reciprocal relationship with All That Is, open up to the deeper wisdom available to us all, and begin to understand how we can help heal the planet.

Who does not like chicken wings? You would really have to think about that! They are small and easy to grab with your hands. Kids love them for the size and they are a great meal. The goal of this book was to try and expand my chicken wing batch of recipes in order to stop making the same old flavors each time. I wanted to keep it fresh and exciting every time I make chicken wings. In this book, you can bake them, fry them or grill them. Some of these recipes you might even want a cooling dipping sauce to go with the wings. You can either use a store bought dressing, but why do that when you can make your own.

Hand-in-hand with Pili, the reader discovers the adventures of a little girl who travels the world with her dad, National Geographic Image Collection photographer Kike Calvo. In this brilliantly illustrated book, Pili, the Little Explorer, follows her dreams all the way from New York City to the Colombian rainforest. The core message of this Little Explorer, Big World series is environmental conservation and sustainability. It tackles the concepts of cultural diversity and empowerment, global readiness and peace, entrepreneurship and climate change. Pili imagines a peaceful place in the world for children. Her plan: it will be a forest reserve, and it will be in Colombia. This is not an easy goal for a little girl to accomplish. But Pili is determined; somehow, she will get this done! "The children of the world-and little girls in particular-can use a few positive messages that will inspire them to aspire. This book has many such messages, tucked into a sweet, beautifully illustrated near-to-life narrative like little folded love-notes."~ Carl SafinaEndowed Professor for Nature and Humanity, Stony Brook University Founder, The Safina CenterAuthor, Beyond Words; What Animals Think and Feel

Every piece here was written in one hundred words including its title. It started as an accidental exercise, a way to syphon some insanity out of my head, but I got hooked on the formula. They became like little puzzles, pieces made of pieces of a whole. The stories themselves are simple vignettes from a handful of lives, small details in a larger sea. Connections exist between them all, they can be found or discarded as you please, but the links aren''t as imperative as the instances depicted, and won''t please any sensible chronology. Otherwise, just enjoy the moments.

There was a man, of those possessed of houses and riches, who had wealth and servants and slaves and other possessions; and he departed from the world to receive the mercy of God (whose name be exalted!), leaving a young son. And when the son grew up, he took to eating and drinking, and the hearing of instruments of music and songs, and was liberal and gave gifts, and expended the riches that his father had left to him until all the wealth had gone. He then betook himself to the sale of the male black slaves, and the female slaves, and other possessions, and expended all that he had of his father''s wealth and other things, and became so poor that he worked with the labourers. In this state he remained for a period of years. While he was sitting one day beneath a wall, waiting to see who would hire him, lo! a man of comely countenance and apparel drew near to him and saluted him. So the youth said to him, "O uncle, hast thou known me before now?" The man answered him, "I have not known thee, O my son, at all; but I see the traces of affluence upon thee, though thou art in this condition." The young man replied, "O uncle, what fate and destiny have ordained hath come to pass. But hast thou, O uncle, O comely-faced, any business in which to employ me?" The man said to him, "O my son, I desire to employ thee in an easy business." The youth asked, "And what is it, O uncle?" And the man answered him, "I have with me ten sheykhs in one abode, and we have no one to perform our wants. Thou shalt receive from us, of food and clothing, what will suffice thee, and shalt serve us, and thou shalt receive of us thy portion of benefits and money. Perhaps, also, God will restore to thee thine affluence by our means." The youth therefore replied, "I hear and obey."
