This is a story of an amazing life, the life of an extraordinary healer. Margaret Gatty (née Scott, 3 June 1809 - 4 October 1873) was an English children's author and writer on marine biology. Some of her writings argue against Charles Darwin's Origin of Species. Among her other books are Parables from Nature, Worlds not Realized, Proverbs Illustrated, and Aunt Judy's Tales. She also conducted Aunt Judy's Magazine, a family publication written by various members of Margaret's large family. Every piece here was written in one hundred words including its title. It started as an accidental exercise, a way to syphon some insanity out of my head, but I got hooked on the formula. They became like little puzzles, pieces made of pieces of a whole. The stories themselves are simple vignettes from a handful of lives, small details in a larger sea. Connections exist between them all, they can be found or discarded as you please, but the links aren''t as imperative as the instances depicted, and won''t please any sensible chronology. Otherwise, just enjoy the moments.

The man said to him, "O my son, I desire to employ thee in an easy business." The youth asked, "And what is it, O uncle?" Thou shalt receive from us, of food and clothing, what will suffice thee, and shalt serve us, and thou shalt receive of us thy portion of benefits and money.
