George Bouchier Worgan (May 1757 - 4 March 1838) was an English naval surgeon who accompanied the First Fleet to Australia. He made several expeditions to the Hawkesbury River and Broken Bay areas north of Sydney and spent a year on Norfolk Island after the Sirius was wrecked there. There is no evidence that George Worgan was on board the Sirius when it was wrecked off Norfolk Island on 19 March 1790. This is confirmed below where it states " but was not on board when it was wrecked in March 1790". Worgan recorded many of the events of the first year of the colony of New South Wales. Unlike his contemporary Watkin Tench, he did not publish his account.

Sherman is especially skilled at building bigger-picture thinking between characters that come to life in their conversations as they age and adapt to new times. The result is a vivid story of slavery's impact, social changes, and one family's legacy that succeeds in changing the hearts, minds, and experiences of those who follow generations later. - D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book ReviewErvin James overcame great odds, pain, loss, and suffering to leave a legacy when he managed to purchase over 100 acres of land and found a community for freed blacks in 1870. It's a story of hope, love, and the family we make - including the unexpected. Ervin begins his journey as a slave walking from Virginia to South Carolina to stand in a slave market with his mother.Their lives are a reflection of the many lives lived and lost during slavery in the United States. However, this story is also of the strength and resilience of those who lived through these times and continue to live through their descendants today. The story takes readers through Ervin's life beginning in childhood in 1815 until the purchase of land made in December 1870. Ervin's story is told against the backdrop of a pre-civil-war era and then through it, gracefully incorporating history and culture into the experience of reading about his life. The Story of Ervin James is a carefully crafted, yet fictionalized, full length historical novel inspired by the life of Ervin James, a Black man and slave, who lived in the 1800s. It is written by his great-great-great granddaughter.About the AuthorBernette Sherman is a multi-genre author and best-selling Amazon author. Her books include science-fiction, inspiration, self-help, poetry, and now historical fiction.

E quando gli appare, quasi vera di fronte ai suoi occhi, spesso inciampa in qualcuna delle sue cattive abitudini, e allora la ricerca continua.Ma che cos'è poi, la felicità?

This second volume focuses on the New Testament, offering lessons and commentary on a selection of the most famous stories from Matthew through the Acts of Apostles. The source text for this work is: "A Practical Commentary on Holy Scripture for the use of those who teach Bible history, London, B. Herder, 1910," by Friedrich Justus Knecht (1839-1921) and Rev. Michael Francis Glancey (1854 - 1925). This text has been augmented with artwork, mostly from the renaissance period, of the Biblical stories mentioned in the text.

The Pit is a novel by Alexander Kuprin published in installments between 1909 and 1915, in Zemlya almanacs (1909 - Vol.3, 1914 - Vol.15, 1915 - Vol.16). The book, centering on a brothel, owned by a woman named Anna Markovna, caused much controversy in its time. Alexander Kuprin started collecting the material for his work in Kiev in 1890s, and it is in this city that the novel's action takes place. Speaking in 1909 to a local newspaper correspondent about prototypes, he commented: "Characters I've made cannot be seen as copying real people. I picked up a lot of small details from the real life, but that was by no means copying the reality, which is something I detest doing."
