For centuries the planet has witnessed episodic mistrust between Islam, Christianity and Judaism. But the planet is shrinking and many people, in their selection of a mate, will consider someone from another religion. This memoir sheds light on the level of awareness and communication needed to make such marriages viable, and scrutinizes the all too common scenario of young girls marrying for an identity. It provides, through lived experience, a fish-bowl view of one woman's journey through three interfaith marriages, told conversationally-right down to the sharing of recipes. Blended family dynamics and childhood cancer throw in further grist for the mill. A final, stormy divorce provides the catalyst for a much-needed character arc, discernment about women's identities, and the embrace of marriage as an endeavor more human than religious. And finally, it offers brief informational segments on marriage in Islam, Christianity and Judaism, along with some beautiful legends-all of which illustrate the commonality of marriage rather than the differences of dogma.
A unique point of view on the experience of WWII, the author chose to tell the story about the campaign against Russia in Stalingrad and ending in the siege on the Abbey of Monte Cassino in Italy by the American Marines from the perspective of a young doctor, a surgeon on a hospital train and the locomotive engineers who stay with the hospital train and are in his medical care. Returning from an escort assignment on a medevac train home to the front in Russia with medical resupplies, he finds his hospital train and the entire medical team with all the patients missing. Lacking a superior officer to reassign him, he is now a deserter subject to being shot on sight by all sides, friend or foe. He must go underground and make his way back to his home unit in Germany. His engagement as a doctor puts him in the presence of life and death, passion and grief. It forces him to break his Oath of Hippocrates not to do harm and to save lives whenever he can without asking questions about the patient's national origin, race or religion. Having to take lives brings him into conflict with his moral core as a doctor and as a son of a minister (even though he is acting in self-defense) with his religious beliefs, while he is struggling to cross many national borders undetected in the midst of a war that cannot be won. Will he make it home?

"Annette does an incredible job of providing women who are healing from cancer a portable art studio, and journal so they can tap into the healing that happens when we are creating joyfully. This book is the framework for escaping the fear and stress of cancer through the prescription of creating authentically. How wonderful that women do not need to be good at art or have any art experience in order to add this form of play and expression to their treatment plan. This book is a great resource to promote mind-body-spirit healing and a sense of wholeness and control over the healing process. I highly recommend adding this wonderful method of self-reflection and self-discovery to anyone's healing game plan!" - Debra Nicholson, Director of Community OutreachCenter For Advancement in Cancer Education "I love it! This book is a refreshing take on the healing process. New research shows the most influential factor on our health and healing-even more than diet, smoking, or genetics- is our emotional wellbeing. Many of us grew up without the tools to support emotional healing, or feel such progress can only be achieved through long difficult therapy sessions. I love how Annette has created an easy and fun way for people to experience emotional healing. It is a must-have in every woman's cancer-fighting arsenal!" - Christine Horner M.D, Waking the Warrior Goddess: Dr. Horner's Program to Protect Against & Fight Breast Cancer "In this lovely book, Annette Tello provides a "safe space to express and honor your thoughts and feelings". In our busy, stress- filled world, this oasis of creative time may be just the healing you need." - Ellen Speert, ATR-BC, REATThe California Center for Creative Renewal Annette Tello M.S. is a counselor and coach. Can a Mormon be a Christian? How does that work? That's the idea behind this personal book by Robert Starling, a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who grew up in the heart of the Bible Belt. Some folks there (and elsewhere) believe that Mormons are members of a non-Christian "cult". Robert's purpose for this book is not to convert anyone, but to give his "strong reasons" to dispel that misconception. As a child of converts to Mormonism whose uncle is a retired Methodist pastor, Robert has a unique perspective to share with Mormons and non-Mormons alike. He attended a Baptist vacation Bible school as a child (and so did his own children) and his best friend in college at Georgia Tech was the president of the Catholic student Newman Club. Having resided in Utah for twenty years where he worked as a media producer for the LDS Church at its worldwide headquarters, Robert has lived "really inside Mormonism" for decades. While Robert is not an official spokesman for the LDS Church, he has trained local church leaders in how to work with news media. He's been active in defending his faith from critics (he's been sued by them twice for a total of $30 million) and sharing his knowledge with anyone interested in learning what Mormons really believe. For instance:Do Mormons believe in a "different" Jesus? What do Mormons believe about the Trinity? How are Mormons "saved"?Do Mormons baptize dead people? Is there only "one true church"?What happens in Mormon temples?Do Mormons wear "magic underwear"?Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith? Is the Bible God's word for Mormons?Do Mormons want to become like God?What kind of evidences does Robert use to make his case?Whether you're a Mormon or not, you'll be surprised.Take a look inside and find out! (and be sure to read the introduction)
What Healing Means to Me: A Primer serves as a guide to enable the reader to understand in a broad outline Dr. Alexander Augoustides's perspective on why balance and an active physician-patient relationship is integral to healing on any and all levels. His signature program Balance Rx© is the backbone on which this work has been developed and also serves as the framework that forms the foundation of what he and his staff do daily at Piedmont Integrative Medicine. This program uses seven keys that each constitute an important segment of the whole, and each segment has at least seven sections. Each of these segments and sections are considered and addressed by each individual.Dr. A lovingly challenges his reader with three foundational questions throughout the book. The purpose of asking these questions is to discover an outline and structure with answers that are both specific and definite. In a more specific sense, the three questions enable the reader to bring and define their why into being, outline the framework of the what, and ultimately show you the way forward. Through the thousands of patients Dr. A has had the privilege of working with, he has discovered that this Socratic approach just works.

Have you ever felt that your life is just not what you had hoped for? Things keep going wrong time and time again, and you say to yourself, "Why me?" You look at other people, and say to yourself, "Why can't my life be like that?" They have good relationships, career, health, success, and money. What is holding me back? Why is my life so lacking? Why do I feel so awful? This is how I felt for a very long time because of my negative upbringing, and my negative thoughts just attracted more of the same. I knew life had to be better than what I was experiencing, so I started conducting research with The Psychology of Achievement; The Secret; works on Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, and Rudy Tanzi; the Tao Te Ching; and What the Bleep!?: Down the Rabbit Hole, a documentary movie that explains correlations between quantum mechanics, neurobiology, human consciousness, and day-to-day reality that support all my research. This had led me to write a book so others can overcome any challenges and negativity, find the meaning of life, and live everyday fulfilled. In my book, I illustrate with examples of how I overcame all my insecurities and negativity with the tools I learned, and I wish to share this with the world.
A few years ago, I sat on a bench by the river, and an old man shared his wisdom with me. He told me that I could always hear his voice through that of others. I listened and took notes. This book is a collection of some of his words and the things I have learned from our newer conversations.
There are plenty of books about astrology, and there are plenty of books about the Enneagram. However, there is very little known about how both astrology and the Enneagram can be tied together which can provide extra insight about why people are the way they are. It can show a lot more about their personalities than they are aware of so they can take the opportunity to explore who they are on a deeper level. This can provide the insight that many people need so they understand themselves better which can lead to healing and self-acceptance. There is nothing woo-woo about this book because Miriam doesn't go for woo-woo. Just down-to-earth spirituality.
This book isn't meant to be a significant piece of research. It isn't meant to be a marvel of wordsmithery. It is meant to be a conversation starter. It is light, sometimes humorous, and sometimes poignant and piercing. There should be some take home for both sides of the aisle in here, employees and employers alike. Hopefully, this book ignites some dialogue that will help employees understand the psychology and personae of those who sign their paychecks.
