All leaders can grow each day with self-discipline and making lifetime learning a commitment. Each one of these 366 daily devotionals or lessons is mutually exclusive but should also be interdependent. You don't have to have or do all of these to be a great leader. What this project reminded me was there are innumerable qualities, traits, and characteristics that go into the stew of being a great leader. Leadership is as much art as it is science and you need to master your leadership game over your lifetime. Because leadership is about working with people, what worked yesterday with one may not work tomorrow with another. Find what works for you, never relinquish the foundational traits and characteristics no matter what, hold yourself accountable more than you hold others accountable, and continue to move forward. I love the study of leadership, have been doing it for 35 years, and expect to do it my whole life. Leadership fascinates me and the more I study it the more I validate how critical it is to teams, organizations, our nation, and our church. My life's purpose is to Positively Influence Lives. This is done primarily through leadership. My measure of success with this project is to expose readers to leadership concepts and lessons so they can build upon their own leadership knowledge.
Expatriate workers? International Students? Department Transfers to different departments within the Same Organization? Relocations to different geographic locations within the Parent Company? Global Assignments? Student Transfers to new institutions, domestic or abroad? All are commonplace today.Move beyond "Bricks and Mortar" concerns and delve into the aspects of organization-building that will:¿ Facilitate seamless transfers¿ Reduce employee turnover¿ Increase student persistence¿ Maximize performanceThe newcomer experience in organizations and educational institutions can be improved by working the Five Factors that predict success. The SYM- Q Model and research using the model examines the five factors which present the most significant intercultural issues for cultural intelligence in organizations, educational institutions, and anywhere newcomers enter an existing host culture.FACTOR 1: The CQ Exchange (social and dialogue interaction patterns between newcomers and members of the host culture)FACTOR 2: Individual Identity Factors (personal attributes; also called self-identity factors)FACTOR 3: Generational Identity Factors (technology usage and age cohort)FACTOR 4: Environmental Identity Factors (norms of the culture)FACTOR 5: Collaborative Factors (clearly articulated job expectations or clearly outlined programs of study; these are also called Academic Factors in an educational institution).Intercultural Success is a two-way street. Passage is negotiated by each interaction between newcomers and members of the host culture in the remaining four factors. The SYM-Q Methodology prescribes these interactions to help you to make the most of your intercultural experience.
Volume 2 is a continuation from Hindsight Volume 1. This volume will build off the foundation set in volume 1, thus furthering the challenge and perspective already set forth. This is a journey that will dive deeper into core values and enhanced perception. Your experiences matter and so does how you interact with people in life. In a time where life is changing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are all forced to adjust whether we like it or not. Social distancing has challenged us. Economic instability threatens peace of mind. Face masks, plexiglass and people counting how many shoppers enter a building makes us feel like aliens in our own communities. This book is a great tool to help you remember to be human. Social interaction may have been taken for granted for several generations. While we have technology to aid us during these trying times, it is still no substitute for those that are considered "essential personnel". In the chapter about Duty, know that my words apply to you as well. Any and all medical personnel, any and all first responders, food and agriculture workers, energy personnel (electric, petroleum, and gas), water staff (clean and waste), logistic personnel (including all transportation), all public works, anyone affiliated with communications, members of government (on all applicable levels), critical manufacturing, hazardous material workers, chemical personnel, financial services, defense personnel, commercial and professional services and anyone who brings our mail to us, thank you. If you are contributing to someone's sanity or even maintaining your own by staying productive, I thank you as well. It's not really a description about the book, but it is certainly a piece of what you can extract from it by honoring those that fulfill their duty in society. Read more to find out.
