'Did Matthew "e;twist"e; the Scriptures?' 'Where did Satan come from?' 'My Reading? Questions and issues like these are presented in this selection of papers and presentations from a Bible conference at Avondale College on the broad topic of intertextuality. More than 100 scholars and administrators convened and shared their research as well as their personal perspectives on how to read and apply holy Scripture in the 21st century. This anthology contains a representative sample of their studies and reflections.

They write from the perspective of their respective disciplines of biblical studies, patristics, theology, liturgy, philosophy, and communications media. They situate the document within the Jewish-Christian tradition, assess its reception since Vatican II, and its implications for the future.

In Our Father Who Art On Earth Jose Tolentino Mendonca draws on the expertise of biblical texts, but also to the data of anthropology and literature, to dare to 'open-up' the Our Father to believers and non-believers, and point out new keys to a spiritual reading of this text that is the heart of Christianity. The result is absolutely unusual. The reader is summoned to an inner journey that they will not forget.
