The thirty-eight volume Judy Bolton series was written during the thirty-five years from 1932-1967. It is one of the most successful and enduring girls' series ever published. The Judy Bolton books are noted not only for their fine plots and thrilling stories, but also for their realism and their social commentary. Unlike most other series characters, Judy and her friends age and mature in the series and often deal with important social issues. To many, Judy is a feminist in the best light-smart, capable, courageous, nurturing, and always unwavering in her true beliefs; a perfect role model.

The Diaries of Hanna and Rebecca Smith offer a rare glimpse into the inner lives of two young ladies from Martha's Vineyard in the early 1800s. In a practice unusual for rural women of their day, the Smith sisters avoided describing domestic activities. Instead, these diaries from the collection of the Martha's Vineyard Museum reflect their authors' wide-ranging reading, observations of the world around them, and thoughts on mortality. In this volume, Marian Ragan Halperin, former Director of the Museum, has used her knowledge of the Island's history and the Museum's collection to enhance our understanding of these rare documents.

Twelve-year-old Job lived on a mountain in the Catskills with his grandfather. One December Christmas Eve, when his grandfather had gone to town leaving Job to care for the cow and chickens, a snowstorm arrived, preventing his grandfather's return. Sitting in front of the fire, Job is visited by numerous fairies, who tell him wonderful stories of the world. Upon his grandfather's return, Job is not quite sure - did it actually happen or had he dreamed it? This is a wonderful story of imagination, beautifully written and illustrated. Originally published in 1876.
