Williams wanted his Arthurian poem to be a universal epic: not just a tale of early-Medieval heroics, but a poem that would use its narrative to portray the human condition, and the world, with the kind of completeness found in Milton's Paradise Lost or Dante's Divine Comedy. Charles Williams is perhaps the least well known of the Inklings, the writers' group based in Oxford which included J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. In making this collection of Williams's major Arthurian poetry we have sought to make available again, after several years out of print, all his previously published verse on the abiding subject that dominated his work and life from the early 1900s to his death in 1945. The earliest work, published here for the first time since its original appearance in 1913, is the 'Pageant Song of Gwent', which shows Williams thinking about the Arthurian legends even this early. This, along with poems from Heroes and Kings (1930) and Three Plays (1931), comprises all of Williams's early published work on the subject, and is followed by his mature work, contained in the two major sequences Taliessin Through Logres (1938) and The Region of the Summer Stars (1944), which form the centre of this collection. The volume includes an introduction by Grevel Lindop (biographer of Charles Williams) and an essay on Williams's work by Arthurian scholar, John Matthews.

Saints and heroes of the LGBTQ community come alive through bold artwork in "Heavenly Homos, Etc" by Dutch priest Jan Haen. He paints diverse people of faith, courage, and love who can inspire readers with new models of queer holiness. The clear, concise style packs a whole pantheon of saints into a single user-friendly volume. Dozens of saints and historical figures from all over the world are presented, including popular favorites such as Sebastian, David and Jonathan, Joan of Arc, Sergius and Bacchus, Harvey Milk, and Matthew Shepard. Less famous but richly deserving people are also canonized by Haen's paintbrush. Short, accessible text lets the pictures tell their stories. The book's deceptively simple style conveys sophisticated understandings of sexual orientation and queer Biblical scholarship. Large, colorful illustrations on every page present a fresh, unsentimental perspective on saints and other uplifting people. Intended for adults, the book naturally includes the occasional nudity that is needed to tell the history."Queer saints danced in my soul when I read 'Heavenly Homos, Etc.' Let the heavenly homos encourage you by revealing their place in human history and in God's creation."-Kittredge Cherry, publisher of Qspirit.net, author of Art That Dares and The Passion of Christ: A Gay VisionJan Haen is a Dutch visual artist and Redemptorist priest who has ministered in the Netherlands and South Africa. He painted murals in schools, churches, and public places in Africa and across Europe. Haen is an active member of the Werkverband van Katholieke Homo-Pastores, an association of gay Catholic pastoral leaders.

Do you believe that God is the self-giving Love that moves the sun and other stars as well as the Love that is closer to you than your very breath? If not, please stop reading altogether. If so, then proceed...As Daniel London's concise introduction explains, The Cloud of Unknowing teaches us that God is not a thought or an idea, but a loving presence to be encountered in the simplicity of silence. Whether you have treasured this classic text for years or are coming to it for the first time, you will find something here that speaks to your soul and invites you more deeply into the life of prayer.-Arthur Holder, PhD, Professor of Christian Spirituality, Graduate Theological Union, editor of Christian Spirituality: The Classics and The Blackwell Companion to Christian Spirituality Like meeting an old friend after an absence and immediately being on intimate terms again, I met the essence of the beloved author of "the Cloud." This devotional brought me to tears and to belly laughs with that familiar wisdom and wink of slyness I have loved throughout my life.
