Vivid and luminous, the remarkable exploration of self, the curtain of nostalgia. A landmark of contemporary Poetry, Seeking the Avarenthie Sky is the assembled works of the self titled Seeking the Avarenthie Sky, along with We Were Once Birds, We Once Held Treolene Dreams, and Gold World Light - A Poet's Chorus. These four poetic silhouettes span the journey of homesickness and nostalgia, solitude in nature, and the quiet places we found not only in the world but in ourselves. Travis struck out across the vast and desert landscapes of Mexico, across it's wide open seas, on a journey to find his voice in poetry and writing. Throughout his journey, he is brought back to Ohio many times which fosters nostalgic memories that conflict with his need for exploration and travel, and he confronts within himself what it means to long for a home that no longer exists.

Travis has set out to wander the seas and vast desert landscapes of Mexico's Baja Peninsula. In his remarkable second book, Travis is guided by what he knows is true: his love of poetry, that is his Serevine Star. He follows the path before him, and he embraces the world and his journey. His adventures takes us through the ups and downs during his excursion to the peninsula, and its outlying islands. Fraught with uncertainty, battered by storms, he travels to islands and desert escapes with his family, collecting the dreams and memories of far away lands. In this book length poem, he asks that each of us follow our own Serevine Star, to follow what we know is true about ourselves. The follow up to the acclaimed "Walking the Path Violet," Travis sets in comfortably as the new voice of poetry. Included is a review and interpretation of Travis' work thus far by his long time friend, and fellow poet, Emmeline Mills.
