In the future, all forms of employment have been automated. Cities now stand as the strongholds housing complex robotic ecosystems, ruined human constructions drowned in a sea of nanomites resembling a desert of black sand. Humans now live in compounds in the country side, where they live for free off of what the city provides them with. But the process of automation is not entirely complete. The masters of this world are fanatic believers in the march of progress, managers who are seeking 100% automation for the sole sake of achieving a KPI. However, in their endeavours they are faced with the unthinkable: a man who appears impervious to automation...the last working man alive. The story follows Bardhyl Imron, and his daily struggle between the absurd task of going to work, a place now both alien and mysterious beyond human comprehension, and living in a compound where humanity is spiralling into barbarism. The lines between man and machine eventually blur, until both are finally seen under a final common denominator: that an intelligent soul is simply determined by its' desire and quest for freedom.
