This book provides a kind of awareness regarding the current status of these urban lakes and recommends some of the important strategies for their management and safeguard. This book also throughs light on the mineral status of agricultural soils in two geographically different districts of Kashmir so as to understand the change in soil quality due to unsustainable agricultural practices. The study is done on the basis of primary and secondary surveys and both lakes are urban with different geographical and environmental conditions, as the study and observations suggest that the condition of water and sediments of both lakes has extremely deteriorated from last two decades. Our research, observation, and readings are from only four months due to lack of time and accessibility, as our study and collection of samples are latest. This is from, January and February for Dal Lake, and March and April for Bellandur lake Bangalore. Which are giving the details of water quality of both lakes and the investigations are showing the increasing trend in pollution of both lakes. This study will be beneficial for the respective departments of both lakes whether it is LAWDA (lakes and waterways development authority) Jammu and Kashmir and LDA (lakes development authority) Bangalore Karnataka and for further future researches on both lakes these parameters will give a brief introduction on physico chemical characteristics of both lakes. Due to lack of time and infrastructure our study was limited and little but qualitative in producing information.
