The thought of writing a book was somewhere there in the recesses of my mind, but I never took it seriously. I noticed that social media, which I avoided for a long time, is now flooded with people announcing classes and courses for those aspiring to become authors. I wanted to know what I can do to my passion for writing. So far, I was only writing articles and blogs. I have been writing many articles and blogs in reputed journals in India, some foreign publications, and on LinkedIn, and now I got the sudden and impulsive urge to write a book. I have the passion and time. I remember my late father, a Management Professor, was writing books after retirement, till he was 84 years. This thought inspired me to take the plunge and make this a reality. Since my core subject is psychology and I am a psychologist, I started with the thought of writing something about or related to my subject. The thought of whether I should write a book started bothering me. I got the inspiration for my book from this thought process: why we make choices, how we make them and why is it so difficult to make choices. I sincerely hope readers will enjoy my book as much as I enjoyed writing it

A picture book about the childhood of the best tabla player in the world, Grammy Award-winning Zakir Hussain Just a day and a half old, the very first words Zakir hears from his famous father, Allarakha, are bols -- rhythms played out on tablas! These rhythms sing and dance in his head, on Amma's cheeks, on pots and pans... The author follows these beats, stringing together little vignettes from his life. From a childhood around music to the highs of a performer who took the tabla to the world, this joyous story introduces children to a musical genius, whose busy fingers and flying curls make him the inimitable Zakir Hussain. The illustrations add their own magic with fine artistry and a subtle but striking use of colors.
