Perception is the conscious appreciation and qualitative understanding of the panorama. Of course, perception is an abstract entity, not easily quantified. Indeed, hard measurement of it is impossible. But measuring its subtleness is unimportant here - it is the resultant that counts, especially among the psyches of the psychologically distressed.
