This book is based on fact. While serving in Western Germany during the Cold War this soldier had gotten into some trouble for a couple of very minor offenses which were in reality everyday occurrences in Europe at the time. The young soldier was forced to work for Military Intelligence. They were officially in charge, but the soldier was really working with the Military Police not with Military Intelligence. So don't expect the same old boring story that most Military Intelligence books have to offer. This is anything but that! The soldier in question was introduced into a world of sex, drugs, and police work that dealt with gun-running, drug smuggling, and Neo-Nazi militant organizations. Not only was spying on fellow Americans a part of the job, but also German counterparts as well.
