Before The Twilight Zone and before The Outer Limits, there was Tales of Tomorrow, the first science fiction series on television aimed at adult viewers. Premiering on ABC on August 3, 1951, the live drama featured several actors just beginning their careers. Lee Grant, Leslie Nielsen, Cloris Leachman, Paul Newman and his future wife, Joanne Woodward, and James Dean were just some of the players starring on episodes of the series. Many of the presentations were based on short stories authored by famous science fiction writers like Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, and Nelson Bond. Stories dealt with themes such as human mutations, nuclear apocalypse, time travel, space exploration, extraterrestrials, and alternate worlds. This book summarizes the story lines of each installment of Tales of Tomorrow and, where applicable, describes the short stories on which an episode is based. In addition, the book recounts the stories for the radio version of Tales of Tomorrow as well as some unproduced television episodes. Richard Irvin is the author of several books about television published by Bear Manor Media.

Judy Garland was one of the greatest entertainers of the twentieth century. As Yip Harburg, who composed the lyrics for "Over the Rainbow," wrote in a letter to Ms. Garland, "I would consider myself fully compensated and my life work richly rewarded because of your singing of Rainbow alone. It is a gift most writers are never lucky enough to know. Your voice, above all others, touches a song with immortality and carries in it the prayer and wonder of all mankind." Judy Garland: The Movie Roles That Might Have Been is the only book the details the movie projects in which the singer/actress might have starred. Such projects range from films never made including Babes in Hollywood with Mickey Rooney and Cabbages and Kings with Van Johnson to motion pictures for which Judy was considered but another actress got the role. These include the musicals Good News and Take Me Out to the Ball Game. Where possible, the actual treatment or script tailored for Ms. Garland's talents is described in the book. Over ninety motion picture projects are represented. Richard Irvin is the author of several books about the entertainment industry including The Most Obscure Cult TV Shows Ever, The Forgotten Desi and Lucy TV Projects, and Four Star Television Productions - all published by Bear Manor Media.

"As television grew more enticing for both viewers and filmmakers in the 1950s, several independent film producers with knowledge of making low-cost films and radio shows transferred their skills to producing shows for the small screen. Rather than funding live programs that were popular at the time, these producers saw the value in pre-taped shows, which created large financial returns through episode reruns. This low-cost, high-yield production model resulted in what are known and beloved as "B" television shows. Part historical account and part filmography, this book documents the careers of over a dozen "B" television producers. It chronicles the rise of situation comedies and crime dramas and explores the minds behind popular shows like My Little Margie, The Lone Ranger, Lassie, Highway Patrol and Sea Hunt. Divided into 14 chapters of producer profiles, this work is rich in both trivia and critical assessments of the first years of television. A chapter detailing the work of early female television producers rounds out the text"--
