"Awake Sleeping Giant" does that in relation to the mentally ill and needy. It reveals the healing power of Christ and the Spirit expressed as hope, empowerment, choice, and recovery environment. It also reduces stigma, which leads to a healthier community. The sleeping giant is the Christian Church. The church is made up of humans like ourselves. It also reduces stigma, which leads to a healthier community. The author lost his son to suicide because of mental illness in 2001. Since then he has volunteered with NAMI and a peer run organization as a support group facilitator board member and officer.
