This part-travelogue and part-scrapbook of curiosities and memories is the sequel to macabre story-teller and children´s fantasy author Rabbit Warren´s autobiographic "My Dreams and Travels". Beginning with his amusingly botched attempt to become a travel courier, Rabbit then describes how he finally realized his "Alpine Dream" by training as both a chef and a pastry chef in the Bavarian Alps, as well as then becoming a hotel children´s entertainer and magic clown in the Austrian Tyrol. As well as describing the many colorful places that he worked - including a partying ski-school, a hotel run by "witches" and a Gingerbread Kiddies´ Club - and lively characters he worked with, Rabbit also tells of his father´s visits to the Alps following his mother´s tragic death, how he had to re-invent his life after a brain tumor operation and how he finally became an Austrian citizen after Brexit. Rabbit also writes of his favorite pet-themes and inspirations, including the Von Trapp Family Singers of "The Sound of Music" fame, the Nazi Olympics of 1936 and the "Alpine Fortress" of 1945. Written in a breezy and highly readable style, this is a mostly light-hearted celebration of life that can easily inspire one to live out one´s life according to one´s dreams. Suitable for all grown-ups and teens from 14 years.
This light-hearted autobiography of macabre story-teller and children´s fantasy author, Rabbit Warren is also part-travelogue and part-scrapbook of curiosities, as well as being the prequel to "My Dreams in the Alps". Beginning with his earliest childhood memories of Apartheid South Africa before growing up in the suburbs of London, Rabbit describes how he gradually came to dream of becoming a writer, working with children and living in the Alps. After missing his final exams because of a major bicycle accident, he then recounts his travels and adventures in the Alps whilst finding work in Switzerland and, later, also in the mountains of Scotland and England. Whilst describing the many teachers who inspired him as well as the colorful characters he worked for or with - including Tomahawk, Herr Gruezi and globetrotting Toby - Rabbit also adds all sorts of fascinating background information to his travels and dreams, including the Zulus, Walt Disney, Charles Dickens, the Dream King of Bavaria, James Bond, the Pioneers of Tourism and British royal history. Written in a breezy and highly readable style, this is a playful autobiography of fun memories that may well inspire young people to get on the very next international train with a one-way ticket to Paradise. Suitable for all grown-ups and teens from 14 years.
