The purpose of this multi-participant qualitative case study was to investigateeffective teachings practices among highly-regarded second language teachers and howthey developed during teacher education programs and in their careers. Furthermore, since COVID-19 has had a remarkable impact in every aspect of living worldwide, including in the field of education, this study also attempted to illustrate how highlyregardedsecond language teachers adapted to emergent remote teaching. The focalparticipates were six highly-regarded second language teachers, who wererecommended by second language researchers, educators, and professional organizationleaders as having outstanding and even innovative teaching practices. Data werecollected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed qualitatively. ActivityTheory and Ambitious Teaching guided this study and were utilized as theoreticalframeworks. Themes related to the theoretical frameworks and patterns that appeared among these highly-regardedteachers were discussed. In order to cultivate second language learning and createeffective second language classes, highly-regarded language teachers nurtured studentcenteredclassrooms, that were enriched with inspiring and encouraging activities,
This book aims to provide a comprehensive and systematic understanding of research on extracellular vesicles (EVs). Extracellular vesicles, including exosomes and microvesicles, are nano-sized lipid bilayer encapsulated membranes carrying proteins, lipids, nucleic acids. They are shed by the majority of the cells into the extracellular milieu and present in many biological fluids (blood, urine, saliva, breast milk, cerebrospinal fluid, follicular fluid, semen, lung lavage, and tears). With numerous research publications in recent years, the study of EVs is the emerging field across plenty of disciplines. Many researches and efforts have shown their biogenesis, multiple roles in physiological and pathophysiological processes, and their potential roles as therapeutic agents. The book is organized by outstanding scientists in EV field from the Chinese Society for Extracellular Vesicle (CSEV). It covers the biological basic research of EVs, especially on technologies and methods, as well as the clinical application of EVs as biomarkers for disease diagnosis and therapy.
Writing the memory of my marriage was a painful and torturous process.I met Hu Angang at the Hebei Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Technology in Tangshan. We married in 1983. One year after, I won the full scholarship to study overseas through National Graduate School Admission Test. While I was pursuing my Ph.D. abroad, Angang completed his Ph.D. in China. We had experienced the pain of separation for more than six years.Completing our studies, Angang and I united in the United States, where We had a happy time.In 1994, both of us returned to China. This book will give a comprehensive overview of recently developed, multifunctional materials as visible light-driven catalysts, their mechanisms and applications in solar energy utilization and conversion.
This book presents an innovative concept for designing a 400 kV double circuit composite tower. They concern material selection for the full composite cross-arm core, electrical insulation of the cross-arm, electrical dimensioning of the full composite tower, lightning shielding performance and failure of the full composite tower.
