A beautiful 16-year old runaway girl is abducted while hitch-hiking on a back road in the woods of Minnesota one evening. Her abductor is a vile, depraved alcoholic named Jimmy Ray Jackson.Jackson sells the girls he kidnaps to a middleman who, in turn, sells them to Michael St. Lawrence, a wealthy industrialist. St. Lawrence and his team groom the girls and then use them as the sexual entertainment for his other wealthy friends, well-known entertainers, influential politicians, and even one former U.S. president, at his isolated, multi-million dollar compound, Valhalla.Once they've outlived their usefulness, the young girls are sold on the dark web for service into prostitution rings, or for a sordid life in the porn industry. Because of his powerful connections, St. Lawrence has operated with impunity.Jimmy Breen, former FBI agent and also a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, has just arrived in Minnesota to try his hand at fishing. While there, he meets an elderly lady and offers to help her with some home repairs in exchange for her allowing him to keep his camper on her property. The lady lives out on a forlorn stretch of road, Marlowe Lane, directly across from Jackson and his wife. Breen has reason to believe that the Jacksons are holding a young girl captive in their basement. Will he be able to rescue the girl before Jackson disposes of her?

How many times have you said, or heard, the phrase, "Time passes too quickly?" For those of us who've retired and/or are in our third quarter of the game of life, we know all too well the meaning of this phrase. It seems like just yesterday that we were young, days lasted forever, and we didn't have a care in the world. Now, here we are, looking back on our lives and wondering how the years went by so fast. After retiring, no one ever says they wish they could have worked a few more years. However, I've heard many people say they wished they would have done something different, or they wished they could go back in time and change things; some even have regrets over the past. Hindsight is 20-20, and always will be.I feel like I'm one of the most blessed men on the earth. I'm living in the present and not dwelling on the past. It's been no shoulda, coulda, woulda for me. In addition to having a wonderful wife and marriage, a daughter, son in law and grandchildren, I've had a very rewarding career in our family-owned business that spanned 65 years.I literally went from being born in a small, dirt floor cabin; being drafted into the service by Uncle Sam, and drew unemployment one time for a month, to running a very successful and lucrative business with offices in three different states - Indiana, Kentucky and Texas. The decision to sell the company was made in 2014, and in 2015, I retired from Gohmann Asphalt & Construction, Inc. after some 44 years. This book details my journey through life up to this point. Many of the stories are work related, and some are thoughts and remembrances from my personal life.My goals for the chapters dedicated to the family business, and all the wholly owned subsidiaries, is to preserve them for my grandsons - Masters Alex and George Gohmann Breece - to show them that "Papa John" had a full and prosperous life, a loving family and to all the men, women, children who worked with, and for the family business, who were also considered family. The selling of the business was the most difficult decision I ever had to be part of. My only regret in life was not being able to pass the family business onto the next generation. My Bucket List is three quarters full. Emptying this bucket is my lifelong goal for now.My dear reader friends, I hope you enjoy my story as much as I have putting it - Papa John's Sentimental Memories - in print! For God and Country . . . SEMPER FI! We're all only passing through.
