This book is based on Annemarie's true experiences with her Grandma and beloved rescue dog, Boomer. Brimming with excitement over Grandma's upcoming visit, four year old Annemarie shares with her pre-school class all of the things she and Grandma do together. They unpack Grandma's suitcase, bake cookies, play pretend, style hair and paint nails. When Annemarie and Boomer are frightened by a storm, they go to Grandma for comfort. The teacher asks her a specific question about Grandma; Annemarie is stumped. She does however find an answer. Grandmas and Granddaughters of all ages as well as dog lovers, can identify with this story. The illustrations, contemporary in style, will have you falling in love with Annemarie, Boomer and Grandma. This is the first in a planned series. Next Annemarie will learn to whistle. Later she has to say goodbye to a friend. Without being "preach" there are lessons to be learned throughout the book. You will want your own copy and maybe another as a gift. Local libraries and day care centers would appreciate such a donation.
Five year-old Annemarie is excited because today she will find out the theme for the annual dance recital. Her excitement diminished when the dance teacher announces that this year's theme will be from The King and I: the calss must whistle and dance for their song. She tells them to whistle now. Annemarie tries but nothing happens. The girls near her notice this. What can she do?
