Presented here as one combined volume, Marden discusses:¿ Choosing a vocation¿ Success under difficulties¿ The habit of happiness¿ The power of suggestion¿ Why some succeed and others fail¿ And much more..."Nearly all great men, those who have towered high above their fellows, have been remarkable above all things else for their energy of will," Marden notes... and shows us how to cultivate our energy of will, too.American writer and editor ORISON SWETT MARDEN (1850-1924) was born in New England and studied at Boston University and Andover Theological Seminary. Orison Swett Marden (1850 - 1924) was an American writer associated with the New Thought Movement. He also held a degree in medicine, and was a successful hotel owner. Like many proponents of the New Thought philosophy, Marden believed that our thoughts influence our lives and our life circumstances. He said, "We make the world we live in and shape our own environment." Yet although he is best known for his books on financial success, he always emphasized that this would come as a result of cultivating one's personal development: "The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment; it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone." (wikipedia.org
The preeminent self-help expert of the early 20th century and a forerunner of Dale Carnegie and Norman Vincent Peale, Stephen R. Covey and Anthony Robbins, Marden penned numerous motivation books that galvanized the public. Here, in this 1909 volume, he waxes enthusiastic on doing one's best at work, exploring:· "the crime of carelessness"· "blunders that cost a million dollars a day"· "thoroughness the handmaid of genius"· "what every employer is looking for"· and more.American writer and editor ORISON SWETT MARDEN (1850-1924) was born in New England and studied at Boston University and Andover Theological Seminary.
