This book is a collection of angsty poems written between August 2011 and September 2013 by a displaced young North Carolinian under an inconspicuous pseudonym.
This is the second collection of poetry by Oliver Miller, following his premiere with Basil Hallward's Conscience in 2013. However, unlike the first collection, which was written while Miller was struggling with two undiagnosed mental illnesses and heavy alcoholism, this second book finds its author after an emergence from four years of suicidality, imprisonment, renewal of faith, hospitalization, and in the beginning stages of his recovery and treatment. These poems explore themes such as mathematical beauty, resolving past anger and shame, reflections on time spent as a wartime soldier, unhealthy relationships, dream realities, and existentialism.
