Join me on a wonderful, whistlestop tour of the British capital and create a quilt that explores my favourite, easy-to-master piecing techniques... We'll start our tour with a bird's eye view of the city from the London Eye, visiting Westminter Abbey and Big Ben before taking a cab to Buckingham Palace to catch the changing of the guard, next we're heading down river to the Tower of London and on to Greenwich to see the Cutty Sark, then it's off to the West End for some fabric shopping at Liberty's before a trip to the Park on the top deck of a London bus. And we'd better take a brolly, just in case.
Roll up! Roll up and create a quilt that conjures an enchanted afternoon at the circus from my favourite, easy-to-master piecing techniques... Can you remember the first time you saw a circus tent magically appear in the park, transforming that oncefamiliar scene into an enchanted place where anything might happen? And then there was the anticipation of the show: the excited chatter in the queue; the enticing aroma of candy floss and popcorn; before reaching - at last! - the shadowy entrance to the big top; passing from a summer afternoon into a world of wonder. Let the show begin...
Pack you valise and join me as we explore my favourite piecing techniques and create a quilt that journeys through the gardens of la belle France to the lavender fields of Provence... Close your eyes and imagine that you are sitting in a Provencal garden. It's an early evening in July, warm still, but you have a delicious glass of chilled rosè to sip. Wander with me through the parterres: the gravel paths will crunch beneath our feet as we wind through neatly laid out hedges of box, rosemary and lavender, accompanied by the chirrup of crickets and the low hum of bees. Butterflies will flit from flower to flower as golden light bathes the garden. Tomorrow we will drive to Valensole to see the lavender fields...
Create a quilt that evokes a bright spring morning in the city with my favourite, easy-to-master piecing techniques... Take a stroll with me on a bright spring morning: the birds are singing, the sun is shining and a gentle breeze carries a flutter of blossom petals. Grab your favourite basket and wend your way through pastel-painted streets. Greet your neighbours and admire their window boxes. Call into the bookshop for a browse, treat yourself to a bunch of flowers from the market and find something delicious from the deli for lunch. And don't forget to stop for an ice-cream on the way home. Spring in the city can be very lovely indeed...
A quilt that gazes westwards across the wide Atlantic sea from the Cornish coast to New England... We live a long way from the sea and in the height of summer it can take many hours to reach the coast. But the minute we catch a glimpse of the water, sparkling on the horizon, the cares of the journey disappear. A brisk, salty breeze; clear coastal light; and the sound of the seagulls whirling overhead - eyeing up our fish and chip supper - as we stroll along the pier and we are restored...
