"One morning, bundled up against the cold, I sat in my prayer chair reading the Gospels. As I read the little bit that is told about Mary Magdalene I said, "Father, we know so little about Mary. Would you tell me her story?" Immediately, it was like a movie was playing before my eyes. The story was so vivid I thought to run to my computer to write it down. I sat and typed for an hour before I realized I was freezing. I threw on some clothes, called my office and told them I wouldn''t be in to work and I typed as words pour forth. I typed words I didn''t know, I dovetailed Scripture in ways I couldn''t imagine. When I finished I had the complete story of Mary Magdalene and the first "missionary.". This is a painful, wonderful story of God''s redemptive love. Other than correcting spelling, I added or deleted nothing to this story. I now understand the workings of the Holy Spirit as never before. I didn''t write this book, I typed it! I feel so humbled that I get to put my name on the title page. 

God used Joe to prove it's never about us, our abilities or anything we have to offer. When God decides to do something, He provides the vessel. He chooses the time and He alone controls the results. Many might have seen Joe as a "broken vessel," but Joe wasn't broken at all. He was molded by God to be the perfect tool for the job he wanted done.Joe was an integral part of our family and his life played a major role in God's shaping each of us.
