A social practice art project expanding skill-based employment opportunities for the incarceratedIn 2017, American multidisciplinary artist Mark Bradford (born 1961) initiated a partnership with Rio Terà dei Pensieri, an Italian nonprofit working with two Venetian prisons. Through this collaboration, Process Collettivo was formed: an ongoing project that aims to increase employment opportunities within prisons and the city of Venice as a whole, while raising awareness about the political and environmental conditions that disproportionately affect marginalized populations. This eponymous volume provides extensive documentation of the project, including photos, testimonials by incarcerated people, and additional information about carceral systems and the people impacted by them.Edited and with an introductory text by scholar Nicole Fleetwood, the book includes essays that contextualize Bradford's project through analyses of Italian and American prisons, a reflection of creativity as an outlet for the incarcerated and a discussion of the history of social practice art. Process Collettivo also features a conversation between Bradford and former Rio Terà president Liri Longo, in which they reflect on the obstacles and successes of their joint venture.

When a chance meeting with an old man leads to a captivating story, the author is swept into a journey through time and the paranormal. Starting in 1966 at Oxford College, the story follows a professor's pet project to uncover a message that spans all of written history-a message from the devil himself. He leaned forward, "Do you believe in God?"I swallowed hard. This was not really something we talked about, and unlike now being an atheist wasn't all the rage. It was a personal thing."Professor?" He did not like my lack of answer."It's a simple question, young man. Do you believe in God? Or is what a little bird whispered in my ear untrue?"Before I could answer he slapped one of the piles. "...and I am wasting my time again.">"I.. Well... What does... Well no."He smiled a satisfied smile and leaned back a little."Good. Good. This is a good start. Honesty. Finally."He put his spectacles back on and opened up his calendar book to jot a note. He shoved a piece of paper across his desk and pointed at a line with his fountain pen. A rather large blot accumulated as he waited for me to take the pen. "Sign here."--- I met Simon-not surprisingly-at a cafe. As I try to get out at an early hour and write, it seemed that our schedules matched-at least on Sundays. He was a nicely dressed gentleman that had a story to tell...

While writing The Sword and the Sunflower I often referenced a history of pain and suffering and catastrophe-of horrible times in which the Earth lost most of its inhabitants. What created the beautiful and wondrous yet dangerous world of Stojan and Anastazja was a long history of what occurred after an apocalypse. What happened was mostly a memory in my mind as I wrote. It was a place I dared not go. But I knew the story eventually had to be told. So, now I am telling the story of exactly what happened. The catastrophe, the deaths, the suffering. The tale of how the interlopers manipulated humanity and used their beliefs against them. You can now learn how we lost our technology, how we were made to rely on their wisdom-a wisdom that actually came from us. It is not a story of broad brushes but of intimate relationships, and how not people, but each person dealt with such a thing. What would you do if all your tech was taken away? If your loved ones were gone before you knew it? What skills do you have to survive-without a government, a military, or electricity. Are you ready for that? And what would you do if the saviors of the human race came. How would you react to The Saints? And what would you do if your world was turned Upside Down. --- Nik Tesic is the brightest engineer the world has ever seen. She's brilliant, powerful and decisive. Reprinting for February 2020How can we encounter the risen Lord Jesus in a life-transforming way? How can we be equipped and strengthened to share the message of the resurrection with the world? The post-resurrection encounters between Jesus and the disciples provide us with some of the most profound and personal moments to be found in scripture. The risen Christ comes to his disciples in all their brokenness ΓÇô their sadness, fear, doubt, shattered dreams and failure ΓÇô and calls them to a future filled with hope, confidence, confirmed faith, new beginnings and restored lives. Encountering the Risen Christ reflects on the main characters in the post-resurrection accounts and shows how we too can encounter Jesus Christ in a life-transforming way. The seven chapters plus discussion material can be used across the seven weeks from Easter to Pentecost in individual reflection or group study, or at any time of year.
