When Ms. Ruhl was a little girl on her beloved island of Aruba, her father built a compost pit behind the garage. Many bugs worked hard to turn the coffee grounds, orange peels, and egg shells into rich soil for use in his flower garden. Ms. Ruhl's favorite bugs were the rollie pollies or pill bugs because when she tickled their tummies they curled up into little balls. Scorpions turned up in shoes at camp. They were not cute at all! She hopes you will find a favorite bug to care for. Maybe you will be a bee keeper or raise caterpillars into beautiful butterflies.
Teach your family to enjoy the magic of their ABC's while learning the words that will unlock the many surprises of our sunny island. These words will be clues to all the wonderful and fun things to see and do in Aruba. Practice a little Papiamentu, the island's native language. This beautifully illustrated alphabet book will be a joy for the whole family to discover Aruba's many delights, one letter at a time. Included are two pages to draw your own favorite pictures of Aruba.
