10 Jahre nach der völlig neu ausgerichteten 15. Auflage der Lachmann-Cormeau-Ausgabe erscheint eine 16. Auflage. Der Herausgeber Thomas Bein hat eine gründliche Revision durchgeführt: Erneut wurde der kritische Text mit den handschriftlichen Quellen abgeglichen. Einige Versehen (Drucksatz; Zahlendreher; Übersehenes etc.) wurden korrigiert. Die Einleitung ist um ein Kapitel ,Diskussion der Rezensionen zur 15. Auflage' erweitert worden, wo sich Bein vor allem mit Kritik auseinandersetzt. Aus seiner Sicht berechtigte Punkte wurden dankbar aufgegriffen und umgesetzt (hier ist besonders eine bessere Orientierung über die Überlieferungslage bei Fassungseditionen zu nennen). Textkritisch relevante neuere Forschung ist nachbibliographiert und dokumentiert worden. Die parallele Arbeit an einer kompletten neuhochdeutschen Übersetzung der edierten Texte hat zu einigen Veränderungen bei der Interpunktion der mittelhochdeutschen Texte geführt. Am grundsätzlichen Konzept der 15. Auflage hat sich indes nichts verändert. Man wird abwarten müssen, was nach der 16. Auflage kommt, was von der Fachwelt erwartet und was technisch zeitgemäß sein wird.
