Slavery in Medieval and Early Modern Iberia provides a sweeping survey of the many forms of bound labor in Iberia from ancient times to the decline of slavery in the eighteenth century.
Thirty years before Henry VIII began the systematic destruction of the English monasteries, the wealthiest religious community in the country is under attack from a greedy Italian Cardinal and a Spanish assassin charged with eliminating one of the young monks whose very existence threatens to undermine the fragile alliance between England and Spain. The Bastard of Glastonbury tells the story of BROTHER THOMAS, a young monk, surrendered to the brothers at a young age, whose life is threatened by those seeking political and economic gain in England's new regime. Thomas, with the help of an older couple and a troubled young woman, escapes the abbey just as his enemy discovers his identity. Hoping to get Thomas on a boat to France as soon as possible, his protectors rush him to London only to be overtaken by his enemies at the last moment before departure. A vicious fight ensues on the dark wharfs of the Thames River, and Thomas's escape comes at a heavy price.

In the land of Espada a knight by the name of Jonathan Bertrand has fallen in love with a young maiden named Davina. When the knight is at first rejected, he pushes on and proves his love to the maiden. But in the midst of all this, the king's daughter, Josephina, has wanted Bertrand for herself for a long time. In her desire for Bertrand, the princess sets off a chain of events that will lead those involved to places of danger. Will Bertrand and Davina be able to avoid the princess' schemes, or will they fall prey to them? Inspired by the Medieval Romance tales of centuries past, The Tale of Sir Bertrand and Lady Davina is certainly worth a read for lovers of medieval literature. It brings the feel of the Medieval Romance into the modern age.
Leading a non-profit board-- of trustees or directors-of governmental officials-- has always been a unique challenge. There is no financial "bottom line" of profit to serve as a milepost. This book will serve as a reference for the experienced Board leader and advisor, and as a general guide for the new Board leader, or member or professional dealing with a Board. It grows out of a half century or so of service on non-profit boards and serving as a legal and general advisor to many profit, non-profit and governmental Boards and their leaders.
In my first cipher text titled Baptist Gnostic Christian Eubonic Kundalinion Spiritual Ki Do Hermeneutic Metaphysics, ISBN #0595206780, I discussed the Biblical science of the brazen serpent passed down through Moses in the science of the Nehushtan. In this text, I decipher several pieces of Egyptian artwork found in the Eternal Egypt exhibit. I provide this to show that I have knowledge and understanding of the Egyptian sacred priesthood knowledge. I use the symbolic language as the standard. I also give a deciphered meaning to the Egyptian art piece Stela 55001 which Egyptologists have secretly unsuccessfully been trying to decipher for over thirty years. I offer you the findings of my research and many terms that may not be in your vocabulary. Maybe "you should" look them up! I relate this to a hidden exlanation of the Book of the Revelation that I found. I am talking about the mystery found in The Bible at Revelation 13:18. I reveal what I think "the bolt of brama nidi" is in Kundalini yoga.
"Words for Today" is a collection of sixty individual poems, each with its own applicable message, that, taken together, present a book of inspirations and heartfelt encouragement from one person living the Christian life to and for another. Dr. Earl Stewart, Jr., a physician by formal training who also authored "Precious Memories: Reflections for Christian Living," takes the quiet thoughts and pinings of the everyday Christian, sets them to poetic verse, and the skies crack open, the sun shines gingerly over the waters of our lives, and we are inspired always. This book would be an excellent accompaniment to your everyday quiet times, an added blessing to your personal devotions, and is just for anyone who is seeking a profoundly inspirational book of poetry.
Earl S. Johnson, Jr., explores eight biblical texts that have been instrumental in forming the basis of Presbyterian belief and mission. Using Reformed and Presbyterian principles of biblical interpretation--and the standards of modern biblical criticism, he examines Presbyterian theological statements and their influence on the development of...
