Der Schwerpunkt des Verlages liegt auf dem Erhalt historischer Literatur. Viele Werke historischer Schriftsteller und Wissenschaftler sind heute nur noch als Antiquitäten erhältlich. "Der Verfasser empfand schon lange den lebhaften Wunsch, über die Idee der Persönlichkeit, und das damit zusammenhängende Problem einer persönlichen Fortdauer, welches tiefer, als man gewöhnlich meint, in dem innersten Geiste einer Philosophie seine Wurzel hat, sich mehr als bloß gelegentlich auszusprechen. Daß die sonst üblichen Schulbeweise für dasjenige, was man unbestimmt und abstrakt genug, Unsterblichkeit der Seele nennt, unzureichend sind; ist ein so anerkanntes Ariom, daß man längst aufgegeben hat, sich um dieselben zu kümmern oder ihnen Gewicht beizulegen. Jetzt tritt unser Verfasser in der angeführten Abhandlung mit einem Beweise ähnlicher Art hervor, indem er gleichfalls mit rein metaphysischen Begriffen, noch dazu mit höchst abstrakten Kategorien auszureichen gedenkt. Wir werden weiterhin ermitteln, wie weit solcher Beweis genügt, und wie er etwa weiter zu führen wäre."
