Josephines Pouch is a story with a message for children, teens, and adults about a young kangaroo girl who experiences resistance as she struggles to be herself and to receive acceptance from others. The story starts with Josephine at the start of a school year, excited and eager to learn and be friends with her classmates. She soon encounters resistance to her self-expression and tries to change who she is, only to realize that she must be strong, love herself, and encourage others to accept themselves when they feel they have lost their value or are not being heard and accepted for their unique strengths.
