Reviews the draft International Guidelines for the Management of Deep-sea Fisheries in the High Seas which had been developed in order to assist States and regional fisheries management organisations and arrangements in sustainably managing deep-sea fisheries.

The Scientific Committee examined the status of fisheries resources and considered the report of the working party on fisheries data and statistics. It discussed various fishery assessments, preparation of the next conference on the contribution of fisheries development to the workshop Millennium Development Goals.

Outcomes of the meeting were the exchange among representatives of the Central Asian countries of experiences on fisheries and aquaculture development constraints and opportunities, and increased awareness on the common goals to increase sustainable development of the sector and on the need for regional collaboration in fisheries and aquaculture.

The national reports of Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission were presented at the fifth regional workshop on the assessment and management of the Caribbean Spiny Lobster.

The workshop reviewed and discussed the results of an otolith exchange that had been carried out in 2006 and which included both sardine and sardinella otoliths from different locations. The final outcome of the meeting consisted in revised agreed guidelines for the preparation and interpretation of sardine and sardinella otoliths.

Provides a compilation of annual statistical data on production and foreign trade of fishery commodities for all countries and territories of the world, for recent years ending in 2005. The Yearbook includes data series on production of processed and preserved fishery products in terms of quantity and imports and exports of fishery products in terms of quantity and value.
