Il presente volume è la ristampa integrale della prima edizione in Venezia, dicembre 1944 per la Casa Editrice delle Edizioni Popolari .Da allora questo libretto di Ezra Pound non è più stato ristampato e questa ne è la prima edizione del dopoguerra ad opera delle infaticabili ricerche delle Edizioni della Lanterna .Una efficace storia economica degli Stati Uniti ad opera di uno dei più grandi nomi della letteratura, e che si compendia in un concetto base espresso dall' autore : " la storia economica degli Stati Uniti è consistita in una serie di speculazioni fra la borsa di New York e quella di Chicago" : il motivo per cui un grande della letteratura americana divenne amico ed estimatore della rivoluzione sociale italiana degli anni 30 e 40...Un ' opera unica ed introvabile. Di estrema attualità anche oggi.

Continua la pubblicazione di testi assolutamente inediti di Ezra Pound da parte delle Edizioni della Lanterna. Il paziente lavoro di ricerca nelle biblioteche ha permesso il riaffiorare di un altro testo di Ezra Pound : per la prima volta dal 1937 trova la luce il saggio pubblicato da Ezra Pound sulla rivista romana " Rassegna monetaria" , il cui titolo originale era " L' economia ortologica : il problema centrale". Il saggio, con le squisite citazioni di Pound delle concezioni economiche sia della classicità antica che dei tempi moderni - senza escludere esempi della storia delle storia dell' Oriente più lontano, vuole essere uno studio in progress sui corretti lineamenti di una economia che sia nell' interesse della collettività e dei singoli e non uno strumento stregonesco in mani a rapaci finanzieri che la volgono per predare a loro piacimento le risorse di tutti. Una moneta legata alla " forza - lavoro", un interesse monetario inteso come giusto compenso e non come un laccio per strangolare i debitori, uno stato vigile sulle esigenze sociali di benessere , senza togliere spirito e vigore allo spirito intraprendente dei singoli che, creando lavoro e risorse, hanno tutto il diritto ad un lecito guadagno : si sviluppa così l' idea di economia secondo Pound, incentrata sui valori di equilibrio degli interessi sociali. Mai una pistola fumante in mano agli Usurai. Uno studio che delinea i lineamenti di una economia ispirata a giustizia , che rimane di estrema attualità : oggi forse più che mai, nei nostri tempi in cui ogni argine al Potere di Usura è stato abbattuto e il mondo langue sotto il morso insaziabile degli strozzini internazionali. Un testo poundiano inedito che merita di essere riscoperto. Presentiamo questa volta un altro scritto composto con lo stile di Pound : agile, scorrevole, ma molto profondo. Collecting in full for the first time the correspondence between Ezra Pound and members of Leo Frobenius' Forschungsinstitut für Kulturmorphologie in Frankfurt across a 30 year period, this book sheds new light on an important but previously unexplored influence on Pound's controversial intellectual development in the Fascist era. Ezra Pound's long-term interest in anthropology and ethnography exerted a profound influence on early 20th century literary Modernism. These letters reveal the extent of the influence of Frobenius' concept of 'Paideuma' on Pound's poetic and political writings during this period and his growing engagement with the culture of Nazi Germany. Annotated throughout, the letters are supported by contextualising essays by leading Modernist scholars as well as relevant contemporary published articles by Pound himself and his leading correspondent at the Institute, the American Douglas C. Fox.
