Our choices and those of others may define our lives, but our ability to love or lack of it defines us. An Angel Comes Calling shows this simple but profound truth in a story of two timelines inspired by real life events. Compelled by anger, Lucy arrives at Tom's front door to confront him about books he's written about their past relationship. Afflicted with a serious personality disorder, she is incapable of genuine love, but very capable of manipulation, deceit and cruelty. Returning home from an expedition to the Arctic, Lucy and Tom are reunited after four months apart. Having made the choice to seek professional help three years previous, she is filled with love as they savour their togetherness. And so begin the two strands which weave the story of An Angel Comes Calling. A tale of contrast, it's underpinned by compassion and a belief each of us has the power to heal, change and grow. Though a story in its own right, An Angel Comes Calling also follows on from the true story of the relationship which inspired it. This is available in Kindle and paperback formats in two volumes entitled The Gentle Man and the Butterfly, Volume One: The Light Rises and Volume Two: The Darkness Falls (initially published anonymously, but now also with Edwin Page's name attached). It has also been released as a single edition exclusive to Kindle, which is subtitled The Complete Story. Further to this, there is another non-fiction called Life After Mental Abuse: A Personal Journey which relates Edwin Page's recovery from the mental and emotional abuse he endured.
Life After Mental Abuse is a frank account of mental and emotional trauma. Edwin Page is clear and engaging as he relates his personal experience, charting both the impact of the abuse and his recovery from it. Primarily written for other victims, it's also intended to provide insight to their family and friends, as well as promote greater awareness of the issues. After being subjected to various levels of mental abuse for over four years, the author finally had to walk away for the sake of his own wellbeing. Carried out by someone he loved and who most people wouldn't believe was capable of such behaviour, including the author himself, it included deceit, manipulation, cruelty and a form of abuse known as 'mixed messages.' Fear of his abuser, becoming withdrawn and reclusive partly as a result of his self-esteem being undermined, a sense of being stuck, struggling with the basics of everyday life, like washing or opening the post; these and other symptoms of the abuse are discussed with refreshing openness. Mr Page then goes on to talk about his journey back to himself, marking important aspects of the recovery process. With a voice which is sure to speak to many, he provides advice and support to other victims while creating a growing sense of liberty and hope. Often addressing the reader directly, the author adds to the accessibility of this book while creating a sense of comradeship with fellow sufferers. In so doing, he helps make this an invaluable resource and insight into mental abuse. Edwin Page has also written the true story of the relationship in question. Entitled The Gentle Man and the Butterfly, it is available in both Kindle and paperback formats as two volumes called The Light Rises and The Darkness Falls. It is also available as a Kindle exclusive edition called The Complete Story and uses the fiction of an older version of the author telling his nurse about the love of his life to relate the real life events.

The Gentle Man and the Butterfly is based on a true story of love and compassion. Charting a relationship affected by mental disorder, manipulation and deceit, all is not as it seems in this astonishing real life tale. Volume 1: The Light Rises Thomas lies dying in his hospice bed and relates the story of his time with Lucy, the love of his life, to his nurse. Introduced by a mutual friend who believes Lucy is in need of a calming influence, they quickly become more than mere friends as they discover just how much common ground they share despite a substantial age difference. Moving into his Cornish cottage, Lucy conducts clandestine phone conversations with her ex, causing their relationship to flounder and almost break apart on the rocks of doubt and distrust. Managing to make it through, Lucy's mental health issues make themselves very apparent, but they're quieted by the couple's growing connection. After a city break in Barcelona, their bond becomes ever stronger. Enjoying many happy times together and a home life filled with closeness and affection, Thomas and Lucy seem to be a perfect match. However, when she takes a new job and begins to question her sexuality, it looks like this may be about to change. And so begins the story of The Gentle Man & the Butterfly. Predominantly set in Cornwall, England, it also transports readers to Barcelona, Belfast and a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea. Comprised of two volumes entitled The Light Rises and The Darkness Falls, it's a story of mental abuse, hidden agendas and a love with the power to heal, endure and forgive. Portraying a relationship which is both unconventional and intriguing, this story will both shock and reduce readers to tears. Heart-breakingly beautiful, it's a tale filled with light, darkness and, most of all, love. This story contains themes of an adult nature, including sex, drug use and self-harm.
