This engaging autobiography is full of anecdotes and insights into the life of a trainee nurse and then an expat sister more than sixty years ago. Starting her career in a children''s shelter in Edinburgh where she gained valuable work experience, she qualified as a Registered Sick Children''s Nurse at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children before qualifying as a Registered General Nurse at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.She travelled to Northern Rhodesia in 1959 to get married and took up a post as ward sister. She left Rhodesia in 1962 with a new husband. In 2005 she was awarded the MBE for Services to the Community of East Lancashire.

Dorothy is currently working on her next novel which is entitled Abigail Beaumont.
