Dr. Ned Curtis, a young professor of geology at Ocean Vista University in Southern California, is trying to cope with a problem. Sunul goes to Mars to bring back a sample of the doctor's blood, not knowing if the treatment will work. Attempts on the doctor's life occur and Sunul devises a plan to get the doctor back to Earth secretly. The race for blood or death is on.

In Glacier Fires, University of Washington students Tim Michaels and Art Daniels get more than they bargain for when they travel to Mt. Baker in northwestern Washington State to test out their new telescope. With the sight trained on the glaciers, the two discover a young woman in distress; they rescue Mikka Morgan, a student from the rival Washington State University. But their adventures continue when they, Mikka, and Samantha Ashford embark on another mission to save Sam's forest ranger father, and Otto, an Austrian mountain climber, from a deep crevasse. Rogue climbers have left Otto and the ranger in the crevasse to die.

The crew is in the vicinity of Suddenly, Montana, to prepare rudimentary forest roads to allow access by firefighting equipment. When a woman joins the crew, the character of the group quickly changes.David Drum, high school senior, and son of the sheriff, is confronted with his own problems, two beautiful young women, twisting his heart in different ways, and assisting his friend, Dexter Young, to make a home from an old barn.Behind the scenes, Juan Martinez is plotting against one of the brigade members with one goal in mind, a half million dollars.

With only fifteen months prior to college, David Drum starts a lawn service in Suddenly, Montana, to earn tuition money. His first customer, Mrs. Kincaid, a prototypical grandmother, has an acre of meter-high weeds to remove. David begins and damages his mower on a clay lawn ornament thought to have been discarded a decade ago. Given the clay turtle, he takes it home for repair. His girlfriend, Megan Isaacs, notices a shiny object in the headless turtle and they discover a ring. The local jeweler gives them good news, the ring is valued at $25,000, but it was stolen in 1997. The hunt, assisted by a bogus insurance agent, begins for the rest of the shipment.
