'Devil's Tor', first published in 1932, is the undoubted masterpiece of David Lindsay. Many of the extraordinary and disturbing themes of his first and most famous work, 'A Voyage to Arcturus' (1920), are explored more deeply and expressed more clearly in this book. The story describes the experiences and mental processes of various people drawn by an active Fate to Devil's Tor, a minor Dartmoor height. Lives are transformed, shattered and ended by forces that can remake stars and galaxies. Nowhere in printed English is the working of the Unseen in living minds more vividly drawn than in David Lindsay; and nowhere in Lindsay more magnificently than in 'Devil's Tor'.

David Mills first discovered the legendary Dakar Rally during a three-month motorcycle tour of South America. In 2012, he became an embedded member of a Chilean Dakar team with unprecedented access to the rally; now he shares the story of his experiences. This firsthand account describes the three grueling weeks he lived with the tight-knit Dakar community as they battled the brutal conditions in the ultimate long-distance, off-road competition. Zero to Sixty shares stories of crossing the driest deserts on the planet, visiting lush vineyards and wine regions, getting lost on mountain passes, encountering earthquakes and landslides, enduring drastic temperature changes, and experiencing altitude sickness at more than 15,500 feet. Zero to Sixty offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the legendary Dakar Rally, its people and its history, providing insight as to what drives these athletes to live on the edge of disaster while attempting to finish what is the world's deadliest sporting event.

Inspired by memories of living in the mountain community of Cohasset, California during my preteen years, this fictional novel portrays not only my life on the ridge, but the life of four other boys that preceded me. To give credibility to each story segment, actual historical events and methods are used to accomplish tasks, specific to the period. The book is enhanced by the drawings of Richard Colby, retired art professor, illustrating scenes depicted in my text. Messages of right versus wrong, wisdom from mentors among the community and family values are woven throughout the fabric of the novel. The final fictional Chapters, a part of my visualization, is an overall representation of how life can be both successful and rewarding regardless of adverse situations, as long as one has a sense of being self reliant with respect for his fellow man.

  • - Three Years Renovating a Castle in Chile
av David & Dip Tech (Eng) PhD Ceng Mimeche (Independent Consultant on Pneumatic Conveying UK) Mills
    178,-

"A Fine Chaos" details the three years it took to purchase and renovate Castillo Verde. It describes the trials and tribulations encountered working through Chilean bureaucracy to obtain the necessary rights to own the property and its sources of water, and then the long struggle to restore the castle and its surrounding gardens to their former glory. Join us as we learn about Chile, its people, culture, customs and history. Meet our new Chilean friends, and see through their eyes the renewed confidence and hope that is driving one of the most successful economic and cultural rebirths in South America. And experience first-hand how living in a foreign country can change your life. Much more than a travel book or house renovation documentary, "A Fine Chaos" provides insight, fact and opinion on a country and a continent about which much of the world knows very little.

  • - Chancen und Risiken fur die deutsche Wirtschaft
    av David & Dr Klee
    728,-

The second volume to PENCIL DRAWINGS, by David J. Vanderpool, this 149 page book shows how the artist completed 16 drawings of men who have entered his life through the years. Unlike volume one of this series,"Pencil Drawings - a look into drawing portraits", which was presented entirely in a journal-style format, here only the first four drawings featured keep to that format. The remaining drawings will not only show the step-by-step process it took to complete each drawing, but answers a question that was submitted just for that drawing. With masterfully crafted graphite pencil drawings at their best, this book is an excellent addition to those who have already collected Volume 1. In fact - it's encourage to collect all in the series to have a full understanding on how this artist draws with all lines. NOTICE: This book is not a "how-to book" but rather as one review noted, "An Art Exhibit And Fan Book".
