The textbook focuses on Italian movies from 2010 to 2017 and shows the diversity of Italian culture. Teaching language through cinema engages students in all four main language skills--speaking, listening, reading, and writing--while providing students with ample opportunities to gain intercultural proficiency. Films and activities are grouped by proficiency levels, from Intermediate through Advanced, and progress through the levels and through the book.The recent films featured in Interpretazioni span genres, address a wide range of themes, and are set in various parts of Italy, encouraging students and teachers to more fully engage with the complexity of Italian cinema and culture. The many and various activities for each film are divided into three main categories-- prima (before), durante (during), and dopo (after) viewing the film--and include multiple choice, short answer, open-ended answer, and creative tasks that are both oral and written.
