Cecil Torrs 19th-century studies of Rhodes, in the Greek Dodecanese, off the coast of Asia Minor, were the first and most authoritative English guides to the islands multi-layered history: nothing approaching them had been attempted before.

This 1894 book presents a detailed study of ships from the Mediterranean area during the period 1000 BC to 1000 AD. Evidence is drawn from written sources, including inscriptions and literature, and material sources, such as the ruins of the docks at Athens and small surviving pieces of the ships themselves.

First published as part of the Cambridge Miscellany series in 1932, this book presents a selection of Cecil Torr's reminiscences of life in and around Wreyland, Devon. The volume contains illustrative figures, including photographs and a map of the local area.
