In World War II, 127 ships and barges were built in Savannah, Georgia between 1942-1944 by Southeastern Shipbuilding Corporation, Yard. This is a combination of 88 Liberty, 18 Coastal cargo, 28 Naval Vessels including minesweepers and submarine rescue ships, and 7 concrete barges. This publication lists details of the ship, whom it was named after, and a little biography of the person whom the ship was named after.
